TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

Thought for Day 7 posting late my bad

    Choose to focus
Is there something that frustrates you? Don't focus on the frustration, but rather on the opportunity for improvement.
Is there something that makes you angry? Instead of being consumed with anger, consider the opportunities for understanding.

Is there something that frightens you? Don't focus on the fear, but rather on the opportunity to better prepare yourself.

Is there something that makes you sad? Rather than focusing on the sadness, be thankful for the fact that you care so much.

Is there something that makes you anxious? Don't focus on the anxiety, but rather on the positive purpose you wish to achieve.

No matter what happens, you are always free to choose where to focus. Choose to focus on the positive, and you'll be choosing to bring great value to life.

TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

Made it through my long ride earlier today pain free. I passed on Yankee tickets and I'm happy I did as the game is in rain delay. I hope everyone is having a great day. I will go ahead and post the "thought of the day" for tomorrow for those on the other side! More later...

        Thought For Day 8

        Options
Sometimes, the best approach is the willingness to make another approach. Give yourself some options.
Don't become so focused on the process that you fail to reach the goal. If what you're doing is not working, have the honesty and confidence to re-evaluate and adjust your approach.

A ship sailing across the sea is constantly getting pushed off course by the winds and the currents. To successfully reach the desired destination, the captain must continually adjust the ship's direction.

You cannot know in advance all the circumstances you'll encounter. Plan carefully, and then be ready to adjust your tactics as you move forward.

Remind yourself often exactly where you've decided to go. Commit to doing whatever it takes, and to adjust your efforts so they continue to align with your goal.

Be effectively persistent by being flexible and always mindful of what you've chosen to achieve. Though the path is not straight, you'll surely find a way to get there.

Day 7 nearly over. I had some dodgy moments today, I really did. I can't believe the energy I have. Got lots done this weekend. Al definately saps your energy.

No Doggygirl there is no video of the dancing! Well I hope not . . . sometimes the bands we see take pics but I don't think there were any last night! Wow, 822 days, thats brilliant. I can't see that far ahead yet. For now I'm just glad I've stopped.

Thank you for the inspiration Techie, and everyone else. When I thought about having a drink today I thought about coming on here and I didn't want to have to say I'd been drinking!

TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

              Hi All.
I'm really encouraged by everyone's determined progress.
Babysteps, you ARE on the right track. I'd like an (Australian!) dollar for each time I've had to restart. But at least I did....

Techie, I can only marvel at your physical prowess on that bike. (I suppose you may take that any way you wish:H)

And your daily thoughts are some of the best reading on this site IMO.

I was feeling inexplicably revolting when I woke up this morning, but this thread has really shaken me out of it .
              :thanks:

Well thanks for clearing that up for me Little Owl. Now I don't have to go find out for myself:H

I rarely clean and rarely have people come to my door so I'm safe either way.:H

It's good to read how positive and strong you are becoming. We will do this!

                    Hi Everyone,
well Ive had an amazing weekend, as little owl said Im so full of energy not drinking. I started cleaning out all the cupboards at 8pm on Friday night.. felt as if id acheived something instead of being passed out on the couch drunk as I normally would be on a friday night. Watched the footie, which i normally dont see for the same reason.
Spent the weekend catching up on the garden...feels really good to have so much energy eh!!! Day 8 here we come

RC I feel your pain WRT grooming a dog who doesn't like it. We have one who is like that about getting her toenails clipped. We muzzle and muscle but that is stressful for all involved! I have read that Melatonin is safe for dogs but you should ask your vet. I haven't heard one way or the other about Valerian. (which is what I personally prefer as a sleep aid!)

Day 822 here and life is good. Life today is unbelieveable compared to the dark, lonely, black hole I was isolating in when I finally stopped the madness. I didn't see anything to live for and actually had a suicide plan. Today I love my life. All of my depression and suicidal thinking was AL. It is so worth the struggle to get sober. The reward is out here so keep on fighting! It's worth it!

I'm going to give her 5htp, st john's wort and gaba and HOG TIE her! (jk about the cowgirl stuff) I have a really good valerian formula but it does have some hops so it's a no go.

I really appreciate how you share your journey with candor, compassion and wisdom DG. Thank you!

Another day almost done. Sleeping a bit less but much better rested. Thank God for the little things!

Bridge I agree the determination and success of others fuels my own. Glad you found strength to overcome today. Love your humour too.

Special thanks for you Techie.:h Glad you had a successful ride with no pain.

Made a salmon/cheese quinoa casserole tonight PA Guy. And I had it for breakfast with a raisin cranberry mix, yogurt, flax oil, stevia, and ginger. Think I'm gonna OD on quinoa?

Big waves and encouragement to all!

Great job on your bike ride today, Techie! I am sure you are loving it that you were pain free - Excellent.

RC - Quinoa is so versatile isn't it? You can have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The salmon casserole sounds very good.

I got to the gym today and walked on the treadmill for 3.25 miles and then did some leg extensions and squats. It's been driving me crazy that I can't get a good run in. Once I have my foot surgery, my foot will probably be immobilized for 4-5 weeks. Not looking forward to that but it is what it is.

Expecting a stressful week at work. We are being challenged with budget cuts and unfortunately, that means we have to cut people. Just in the planning stages now but the axe will probably drop at the end of this year. This is when I really dislike being a part of management

Great to read up on everyone's progress here on this thread.. Keep up the great work!

I'm just about to open a bottle of sparkling peach juice in celebration of having sold my car for a price that will let me pay off my credit card and the vet!! That particular transaction felt like some good kharma coming back to me.

Wont be around for 24 hours - have to be up at sparrow's fart tomorrow to travel out of town for work.
