A day for practising patience - I've never been very good at that.

TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

More determined than ever. OK. Will try.

Been trying so hard. Did 8 days.

But, 6 of us were going to the Lake District. Daughter and boyfriend have to move, landlord selling house. Daughter and boyfriend may lose jobs due to budget cuts.

Son and girlfiend both started new jobs.

So not sure who is coming.

Tonight got call son is missing. He started new job. Went round to his house with daughter instead of line dancing. Then went to workplace. Saw girlfriend.

      He eventually rang her.

Went back to his house with daughter. We both said lets get wine. Had just one glass.

Got home had another. Then a glass of hubbies red I have been avoiding.

Dammit it just want my children to be happy. All I ever wanted.

      OK thats no excuse.

Today the day my mum died. 11 years ago but still miss her. 11 years ago was at the hospital. Right now. She died at 4.15am 25/8/99.

            Checking in Techielings

Wearing myself out with young Tigs but having a blast being a tourist in my own town. I must admit it's nice being forced out and about. We're off to the lake after work-if it doesn't rain. I've got my suit and may even go for a dip-will be the first time in the lake this year! Later may take in a concert in the park.

Sorry I haven't been reading back too much ladies, but it does seem it's quieter these past few days. Hope everyone is finding their way.:h

Had thoughts of wine but no craving, I guess thats just the habit talking again!!

Hope everyone has had a good day :h

                Thought For Day 11

                Your time to do
Go ahead, jump in, make the effort and make it happen. Now is your chance to get it done.
If you're worried that there will be too many problems, quit worrying. There will be plenty of problems and you'll work your way through every one of them.

If you're wondering whether it will be worth the effort, stop wondering and start doing. You're much better off doing something than doing nothing.

Are you waiting until you're sure you can get it perfect. Stop waiting, start doing, and though it may not be perfect, it will be done, and you can then improve on it all you wish.

Do you seem to be encountering too many distractions? Remind yourself why you have chosen to move forward, and re-focus your efforts.

You will achieve when you choose to do. This is your time to do.

Well done Pannno,, and hope you have a restful sleep. My sleep is finally starting to settle down after 10 days and getting into a bit of a normal pattern again, for which I am very grateful.

RC - it does seem a bit quieter, but I'm determined to check in every day I can!! I'm loving the Tigger thread - I had such a ball with him when he was here!!

Hello K9, Fennel, Little Owl, Bridge, DG and anyone else I may have missed.

                  catch up later

It was a long day at work with the hangover from hell. Back to day one. Looking forward to the bank holiday weekend. More decorating, should finish the kitchen.

Day 11 thought - "your time to do" - feels very appropriate with all the work we are doing to the house!

TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

Good on you Little Owl for jumping back in. I've found that hard in the past, particularly when I have a hangover ....... drinking the next day to get rid of the hangover, going over the top and having a hangover the next day too, repeat viscious cycle for months on end.

I am so grateful today for this thread. I had to take my cat into the vet this morning - she is getting one of her hind legs amputated tomorrow after having had the blood supply cut off when she fell out of a tree and broke her pelvis! Sounds really dramatic, but actually she has been fine and happy .... but it is uncomfortable for her to have a dead leg and there is a risk of gangrene. Anyway, it is the best decision all round, but I felt very sad saying good bye to her today.

Tomorrow I'm heading north for a wedding of two really good friends ....... and the debating teams in my head have been going hammer and tongs about having a glass of champagne on the day. I'll go (briefly) to the "hen's night" tomorrow night as I'll be able to take my sparkling peach juice. For the wedding itself, I've offered to be the designated driver, but I'll also need to get myself into the right frame of mind before it (and have something to eat, so that I'm not hungry when I arrive). I'm thinking (hoping - for me that is!) it is going to be such a fun and joyful occasion (they are two of my oldest and best friends and have been together for 27 years!) that that will be enough. It is usually when I get grumpy and down that I feel tempted. But it really feels like this will be a big test for me to have a big celebration on my second AF weekend.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a new top to wear to it ....... in some ways I cant afford it, but I've lost a bit of weight recently, and I'm thinking that there might be some symbolic value in something new to keep reminding me that I'm on my way to being the me I want to be. Will contemplate that tomorrow ......

Anyway, I keep telling myself that I have my plan in place, and there is absolutely no point in stressing about it before I get there!

Some folks have fallen off the radar but I hope it's only temporary. There is something here for everyone you just need to embrace it. Bless you all...John
