Day 1 - Here we go!

    Hi Just,

Glad you found this site, and nice to meet you!! Lots of wonderful people on here for sure and I really believe we get bonded on here and truly trust and care for one another. Thats nice huh?

After alot of debate and research I as well was taking Antabuse up until about three weeks ago. It was a pretty good experience, but after about a month I decided that I could do it on my own again. Well, I have figured out that I CANNOT do it on my own again, and went straight back to my regular drinking patterns. Im starting over again today and going to give some thought on going back on it again.

In the time that I was taking Antabuse I only got really pissed off that I couldnt drink maybe once or twice and I have a job serving cocktails. Having the Antabuse really did make me feel like drinking was no option and that was even with drinks right in my face.

You might get pissed off a few times to not be able to drink, or maybe not! The joy I felt being sober and feeling good really outweighted the resentment I felt a few times of having to take a drug to keep me sober. Hmmmm, I think I am talking myself into taking it again!

    Good Luck to you!
I LOVE MY SEROTONIN AND BOOZE SCREWS IT UP!!!!!

Day 1 - Here we go!

          Hey K9 –

Thanks for checking on me. How am I doing? In a single word – “irritable!”. I was ok this morning but as evening approaches it appears just about anything wants to make me put my foot up one’s rear end. As an example, I go to the rest room. Appears that everyone in the organization decided that that particular time of the day was the perfect time to relieve themselves so I had to wait. I was inches away from going out to the parking lot and wizzing on the chairman’s car……

The Antabuse is great. If not for it I would have folded by now but I am on day 4. No side effects except I get really really tired and somewhat depressed.

I have to travel on business the next two days but hopefully the hotel will have internet connectivity so I can continue to check in, pass along some useless information, and read everyone’s posts – They really do help!

          Take care,

          ItsJustMe

Day 1 - Here we go!

            ItsJustMe,
I am glad to hear you are on Day 4 and doing well with the Antabuse.
Irritable? Oh my lord, I was sooo irritable when I first stopped drinking. The house was too dirty, no one was helping keep it clean, everyone was too loud, annoying, and whatever. Constantly!
The good news is that it goes away. Give it a couple of weeks and you will begin to feel calm and collected again. I think the AL leaving your body upsets your body's balance.
            You can do this!

Day 1 - Here we go!

              Hi IJM-
When I first started Antabuse I was soooo tired, I spend most of my time (that I wasn't working) just lounging around on the couch. But that's OK...it wears off and then you will be so suprised as your energy returns. I let the house get messy, scraped by as easy as possible for meals and didn't worry about anything except staying sober. As time passes, you will find that you can do both...be sober AND productive!
Congratulations on Day 4...you are doing great!
