Spuddleduck, I love the way you have the AF days started and restarted! Do you mind if I copy you? it's a great way for me to watch my progress because I am truly determined to beat this problem and be one of those senior members with years after that. I'm up way too early as well and am going to try to go back to sleep now.

Jewels if you can't sleep because you're not drinking and its early on, be glad. I am up after a few hours because I did drink a bottle of wine and it ruinssss my sleep. Always. So which is better really? I'm back now to starting again....

AF journey started 7/4/10 - lasted 8 days
      AF re-started; 8/22/10

Jewels, I woke up early like that for a long time. I also had menopause issues going on too which complicated the sleep issues. I finally just embraced the opportunity to enjoy some quiet time for myself before the day got going. I don't get up at 3AM any more but do still get up at 4:30. I go to bed really early too so it all works out. The more you can find a positive spin on things, the better. I try to see the cup half full and life is better that way.

Sobriety it worth doing whatever it takes to get it.

Hey duck, no AF days here. I'm going to start fresh tomorrow tho. I'm so tired of this. I go 3 days AF and then fall off. It's a cycle I NEED and HAVE to break. I can't take this anymore!

I totally agree. Even know I would rather be in a nice cozy bed asleep, there is something about this time of morning.....no noise, everyone else still asleep. It's relaxing in a way. But I know I really need to get somemore sleep. Lots of chores to do tomorrow.

J~ I must have just missed you. I too am beginning day 1. I was up this morning at 2:50 with terrible anxiety, feeling scared and lonely and hung over. I drank a 30 pack of beer yesterday, started early morning until 3pm when I passed out.

I HAVE to get this over with and be sober. I'm hoping this time will be different. I read on one of the posts that all the rehab and detox in the world won't help if we don't have the determination to succeed. For now, I have determination. For me it will need to be five minutes at a time, not one day.

                    We can do this!

                    Struggles:l

Audrey - I was exactly the same when I was drinking, out like a light at 1st then wide awake at 3am full of anxiety and the more i worried about not sleeping the worse it was, the hangover would be kicking in and I just felt like it was the end of the world. Sadly it didnt stop me repeating the exact same pattern the next night, and the next....

Once I was over the initial detox period I slept incredibly well. now AF I sleep 7 hours straight every night! That alone is worth so much.....
