    Looking For Abstinence

    Hi All,

I've got the other essentials - having a tough time parting with the bottle after 30+ yrs though. Feeling sick ALL of the time has brought me here. I want to make a change for myself B/4 it's too late. Lots of good reading here which is helping me a lot. Thank you all for your words/wisdom/and Courage.

    TribalRose,

    :welcome:

Like you, I have 30+ years of drinking. It can be so much better than you have ever seen before.

I am glad you are here and please stick close, ask questions, read RJ's book. Do whatever it takes to kick the booze.

    Life gets better. Much better.

      Looking For Abstinence

I drank for 42 years before being able to let it go. I am so relieved to have finally done it. I gave up nothing of value when I stopped drinking. But it was a default pattern. When we change any habit it feels awkward. Add to that the addictive aspect and it is downright uncomfortable. But it is soooooooooo worth going through. And BTW the only way out is through!
      Best of luck

Welcome, TribalRose! I think you will find this to be a very comfortable forum to read about and share our experiences with this transformation. I wish you the best of luck.

Sunny - Your words really resonated with me. I abused alcohol for 30+ years and feel the same way as you do - I gave up nothing of value when I decided to stop drinking. I continue to focus on everything I've gained and it keeps me strong and motivated to remain AF.

                        Looking For Abstinence

Everybodys kind words have given me the boost that I needed to get my plan moving towards an AF life - really appreciate it :-) I've read RJs' book and have been trying to slow my drinking down which isn't working. So I'm choosing abstinence to get my life and health back.

I chose my screen name because of the rose tattoos with a tribal theme that I have. I call them my *Tribal Wings*!

Thank you all again for the warm welcome and I'm already realizing that I too am ready to find MWO.

Jumpy is a good word for me today - NO dry heaves this morning though & I certainly am grateful for that! Hr by Hr is what I keep telling myself, along with keeping busy - Another words no time to grab my daily sips which had become part of my daily routine. Will be reading around the board for awhile to grab up some more inspiration to keep me going in the right direction. Take Care Everybody!
