    Good Morning Guys
    Molly you are right about a way of life dying for us, it was the only way of life I knew as an adult so even although it was misery, letting go of something familiar is always hard to do.

    I feel like I was a caterpillar trudging along in my little alcoholic haze with a very narrow view of the world terrified to change, the metamorphosis which takes place is dramatic & painful but growing wings gives us the freedom we could never have dreamed of......

    Anon - Great idea to sign up for the 10km and give yourself a goal to aim for.

      Wow! You are so strong now from sharing where you are really at, getting honest with yourself and all of us here. Here in this electronic world it is easy to be someone you are not. But writing down those thoughts lets you look at them, analyze them, really see where you are then figure out where you want to go. Writing down a thought makes you believe it, commits you to it. I sometimes regard this as a journal, better than one on paper because you can get support and feedback. Even though we are posting on the world wide web, I beleive no one would think to look for me here. They certainly don't know about my alcohol demon, and would not recognize my thoughts.

      I'm off to work. Take care, all.
      My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

        We're beating September!! Go Team!!!

        Aw Choice, poor luv -- it seems really devastating at times, doesn't it? Like some integral part of ourselves is being ripped out. :l

        Chill - love your caterpillar analogy! True true true...





        Exercise? Today it's weights and cardio. (Used to be the primary incentive for noon workout was to rid myself of a hangover...)

          Hi everyone,

          I love the activity on this thread Well, checking in at day 19 and happy to say I am feeling great. What a difference a week makes. This time last week I really thought I wouldn't make it the weekend, this week I am confident I will.

          To all those struggling this week, remember this too shall pass. You will be stronger with each passing craving.

          I really feel I am finding the peace I am seeking.

            Good for you Choice. I am having a bit of a rough time but have been able not to pick up that drink. It will only make it worse. So on to day 25. Just knowing you all are here helps me.

                    Hello everybody - everyone sounds great! Sid, hope things are sorting out for you, nice one not picking up the drink - still not sure how strong I will be when challenged. My life is fairly even keel at the moment, just hope I'm strong when needed. Coco - you rock girl!! And hey to Choice, Mama, Peace and everyone else to come.
                    I had a really busy day at work today, was working alongside a 26 yr old and for the first time, I felt challenged to keep up with her - I have always been proud of being strong and agile so am WRECKED now, should be on the exercise bike........maybe later! Will check in again later

                      Hi everybody! well, I did not want to get out of bed this morning. I ate so much chocolate last night, I felt really sluggish and blah today. So, I made a conscious choice not to buy any chocolate today (I usually buy some every day). And I did it! I did have some banana cake but it was homemade, so I figure it's way better than a bar of choc. I'm going to really try to cut down, as it's affecting how I feel.

                      Sidney, hope you're doing okay, sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I hope things pick up soon x

                      Molly, what you were saying reminded me of a study I read about before where they got olympic athletes to mimic the actions of a 2 year old for a day, and by the end of it, the athlete was knackered! Maybe you just had an over-active 26 year old on your hands Oh, I rejoined my local library, and I got out Allen Carrs book on AL. The How to Stop Smoking one worked a treat for me, so I'm looking forward to this one.

                        Hi Sidney,Neart,Peace,Firefox, Mama,Molly,Coco,Sunbeam,Chill and anyone I have forgotten -Sorry
                        Paid my entry for the 10k race on 3rd October which will be my 30th day AF.
                        Went to fracture clinic today They are amazed at how quickly my bones are healing. Perhaps because I have had so much AF time since the end of May could have something to do with it!
                        When my witching hour arrived at 5 pm I went out for a run seemed to distract me at the time but it is 8 15 and it is back with a vengence.
                        Molly hope you are not too knackered
                        Neart what a coincidence I have home made banana cake but must admit I have just eaten chocolate but better for me than wine!

                          Bananas are supposed to be awful good for us Neart - not as nice as choccie tho! You're very kind but she was just an average 26 yr old - and actually even worse she kept telling me all day she had a hangover and she was still like a whirling dervish!!!!!!!!!!! Actually on a more serious note, this girl (she's a dote, I'm very fond of her, she went to school with one of my sons so I've known her since she was little) drinks mindblowing amount of alcohol. It actually scares ME when she tells me what she drinks. Last night she drank a bottle of wine getting ready to go out, she then had 8 pints cider with her mates, then they moved on to shots, she remembers about 6-8 of them, ran out of money, got 50 euro from the ATM can remember no more but the 50 euro was gone this morning, presumably on more booze. I know I did NOT ever drink like that at that age - actually even in the last years maybe spread out over 24 hours but not in an evening out.
                          Anyway, that's who worked me under the table today!

                            Hey Anon, cross posted. Well done paying up for the 10K, you are committed now!! Great about the ribs - are you safe to do all that running tho with such a fresh injury? Don't mind the oul cravings - they pass!
