        Day 25 AF

Hi everyone on this amazing thread!! Thank you so much for the support. :l I don't know what I'd do right now without you guys. It sure would be lonely and much harder. I agree, I think it is a grieving process of sorts to let something that was such a part of identity fall by the waste side. It is SO helpful to post and challenge myself to be as honest as I can. I've learned so much!!! Well, it's Friday night (here in NZ) and I am relieved that I don't have to stress myself out at a bar not drinking... or much worse drink. We've made plans to meet the other couples for breakfast or lunch sometime this weekend. I am relieved. I don't think I'll have a problem seeing someone have an AL beverage at breakfast or lunch (even though I use to do that sometimes..) I might, but at least it will be a more controlled environment. If I crave... I can breath through it and get through to the other side by the time it's over.... Or hopefully just try and enjoy meeting these new people. I'm going to approach it like that but I do know myself and the nervousness I feel with new people. If I'm to quiet that will just have to be okay because me drinking is not. Alright everyone take care and I hope whatever time of day or night it is where you are your feeling good about your path! :h

                OH Molly!
That scares me that someone can actually drink that much and not end up hospitalized with alcohol poisioning. I can't even imagine how she feels today???

Oh Sidney, I am so sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. You are off line now, and I have never been in chat but I would go there now for a few minutes if you were there. I just got home from work, and have to leave again in an hour, but I will check back.:l

                    Hi everyone,

Just a quick check in so I haven?t had time to ready today?s posts so hope everyone is doing well and feeling upbeat, and if anyone is struggling please, please hang in there and apologies for not being around to help out. I?m at the end of Day 24 so feeling really great about that as 30 just seems around the corner. I think that there are a few of us around the same time give or take a few days.

I?m feeling good and can honestly say that the cravings are getting less and less as each day passes, I?m almost scared to say it out loud incase they come crashing back. My headaches have gone completely and my sleep is improving ? still not 100% but getting there. Anyway tomorrow is the start of another weekend and I have plans to keep myself busy. I?ve had a busy day and evening and I?m dying for my bed so I?ll love you and leave you and catch up tomorrow, maybe tonight is the night I?ll sleep straight through.

                    Dewdrop :h

                          Sober (AF) September Challenge

Hello everyone! I agree with Firefox it is hard to keep up with everyone on here but this is a great thread! Sidney, sorry to hear about your husband. Stay strong, he is going to need you for that!

Sharing a bottle of wine? Silly people, 1 for you, 2 for me!! In fact, get your own damn bottle, this shit ain’t cheap!

Choice, I too understand about lying on the floor and crying. It is just like someone died...that someone, WAS our "best friend". At least that is the way that I became to think about whatever drink I had in my hand at the time.

I apologize if this is a bit long winded but I just wanted to share something that enlightened me the other night. While watching TV with my kids, without realizing it I got up and started walking around the house looking for something. When my daughter asked me what I was looking for, I realized that I was looking for my "best friend". I honestly wasn’t having a craving; I was just unconsciously reacting to a habit of always having a glass, cup, can, mug, whatever in my immediate vicinity! When I realized it, my first reaction was sadness at the memory of my lost "friend". Then I remembered what I felt like just 9 days ago when I posted on here asking for help. I was shaking uncontrollably, crying for the loss of myself and regretting everything!

When I told my kids what I was looking for and why, WE decided it was time to bury that best friend and find a replacement. Easier said than done but with their help and the help and support of all of you, I continue on this journey and am already happier and healthier!

I am not ignorant enough to think that I am over “it”, that will NEVER happen for me but just being able to admit it and face it…head on…is an accomplishment that I am proud of as we all should be for just taking the step to be FREE!

Thanks for listening; I think I am done now lol Have great night and an even better tomorrow.

                            Sidney

Hey Sidney, I've never been in the chat room at MWO but just went to it and I don't think you were there anymore. I am so sorry to hear of your tragic news. If there is a time to stay sober it is now. You are going to need your mind clear to cope and to make important decisions with your husband. Also the pain involved in handling what is coming up will be much more manageable and stable if you do not consume AL. You can rely on your strength and courage during your sober 11 months and know you have it in you to be strong during this time. My heart goes out to you, I have experience in this area and I can assure you that any AL will make everything worse. Take care. :l
