After you decide to stop drinking how long does it take for all those aches and pains to dispapear ! you know the odd shooting pain ?the aching liver? the headaches? the tired looking face? the feeling of guilt and sadness?

I'm not sure there is a simple answer to your questions. We are all different and I think the healing time also depends on how long we neglected ourselves.

The mental and emotional and spiritual healing, for me, has taken effort. But it's happening and I like myself most days.

For my journey, I focused on the physical part of the journey first (stop drinking, start taking supplements, eating better, exercising) and then more recently tackled the mental and spiritual part.

Strength and hope to you as you figure this out.

I heard yesterday that a guy on our radio has liver cancer and he said he was a very heavy drinker he has been given months to live it put the fear of god in me

The best thing we can do is stop NOW. Our bodies and minds really do have an amazing ability to heal. But we have to stop the madness with AL first.

Makes you wonder how many out there have liver cancer and don't make it onto the radio, or if they do and every radio station in the world had one liver cancer patient to every 50 who don't get onto the radio, how many would there be? What if the ratio were 1 to 100, or 1 to 1 000?
What if one of that 1 000 was you, or me?
All within the realms of possibility. I watched the "Rain In My Heart" documentary and if you need more fear of God to scare the pants off you and stop you drinking, I thoroughly recommend it. It worked for me.

i made another appointment

today i made another appointment to see the doctor....i cancelled two other appointments within the last month....all times i said it was because of addiction....a big scary thing for me to finally admit....all three times they got me in very soon....today i called... they got me for tomorrow....now what????

i think i need some meds to help me to stop drinking.....im not sure what to ask the dr for what i think i want...i have read posts here about different meds....i wish i just knew what to do

I hope it doesnt take too long...my head is killing me today, and after I got home from work this morning, I took a 2 hour nap and woke up feeling hung over like I had put away 15 beers. What the heck was that all about? Well, at least Im not craving alcohol, but this headache has to go.

Oh, I meant to add that Ive heard the liver is very good at regenerating to heal itself as long as the damage hasnt reached the point of no return.
