    Sober October Challenge!

Good morning UK and Ireland! I think it's too early for most other US people to be up, but I fell asleep early last night. I notice when I'm not drinking I wake up early...hmmm...could there be a connection?!

Anyway, looking forward to Sunday. I always love Sunday's especially when I'm not hungover. Have a great day everyone!
Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.:h

      Sober October Challenge!

Morning all. Long lie in this morning --lovely. Empty house here so having a little potter round and a play on the laptop.
Mr Anon has no idea about this website and I am sure he would be horrified He would think it was akin to internet dating or that sort of thing. Does anyone else have this site as a secret?
Just about to read "THAT OLD ACE IN THE HOLE" by Annie Proulx.
First though some brekkie and off for a little run.
Hope everyone has a good and sober Sunday.

Do they repeat Strictly on Sundays so I can have a look see at Anne Widdecombe, was it truly awful. Saturday nights are usually a CSI fest in this house.

Not sure bout repeats JC the results show is on BBC at half 7 - it was truly truly excruciating - I had to watch through my fingers! And I love her on 'grumpy old women'! she should have stayed there.
Anon, I didn't tell hubs about this site specifically for quite a while, he also is a complete computer dinosaur and that I would exchange even an email address with someone - I thought he'd be horrified! When the 'meet-up' (last time round) was mooted here I thought I'd better 'come clean' wasn't gonna head off into town to meet folks here without telling him, believe you me there have been enough lies in this house due to drinking, wasn't going to lie about NOT DRINKING I thought he would blow a fuse - not at all, he thought it was a brilliant idea, 32 yrs married and still don't know how his mind ticks sometimes!! So now yes, I tell him little funny stories that come up here from time to time - I think he gets a wee bit jealous when I'm on too long so I limit it a little bit when he's around, I can understand that.
Jeez, Icandothis, not great at the oul time zones but I reckon it's AWFUL early your side of the pond?
Have a lovely day folks, Hitler's at work so I have tele and laptop to myself all day:H:H

                Happy Sober Sunday Team!! 10/10/10
I also wactched the dancing and xfactor. Hubs will watch the dancing but xfactor no chance! He was working nights tho so no problem on the remote front! I told my hub I found this site straight away he thinks it's a good idea. He would spend every waking hour on his computer, if I let him, playing games!!!!! Nice weather for a run anon I'm just north of you in Preston! I took the girls swimming this am and just pottering today and making a cottage pie for tea.
Chicken congratulations on your 3 weeks AF :goodjob:.
7 weeks for me today and going out for the first time next Sat and it's going to be a bit strange sober. I'm going to have a redbull or diet coke and enjoy the music
Anon the reason I have hairdresser phobia is cos I went to Toni & Guy when I lived in Manchester and it was awful she cut my gorge long hair and put loads of uneven layers in it and I cried for weeks!!!!!! Since then Ive only ever popped into a hairdresser for a dry trim . So looking forward to getting it done in a few weeks!
Anyway folks going to do some cleaning! Beats moping aroud with a hangover any day. Has anyone else noticed how much they enjoy the simple things without Al in their lives?

                  Sober October Challenge!

Yes, one of the best things bout being sober to me SJ, silly little things can just make me smile - really smile - mainly to do with hubs, child or chickens, but even the weather can give me a little buzz, just finished the ironing - I used to get sore legs ironing WTF
I had mad blue black mop of hair when I was bout 18, went to a hairdressers (can't believe I can't remember the name of it) asked for a trim and she practically shaved my head, was going on hols to Tenerife that night and I literally cried the whole way there on the plane. The worst part was that when it started to grow back it grew out grey - have been colouring my hair ever since:upset: I actually hate the hairdressers anyway, just hate people 'at' me, couldn't bear massage or anything.
Right off to supermarket to buy dinner, told son I wasn't doing a big fancy Sunday dinner so what did he want - 'Duck' he says, well as my dear old Dad used to say 'it was far from duck you was reared':H:H

                    Sober October Challenge!

                    Hi everyone!
Molly, I have heard that line often! Duck with orange sauce is lovely - haven't had it in aaaages. I'm a bit behind on this thread, trying to take it easy on the ol computer at the moment. Had a nice day yesterday, I finished reading this book "Kiss of a Dolphin" by Tom Tuohy. It really gave me a new perspective on so many things, it's a wonderful book. Highly recommended! Anyway, it seems to have given me a bit of motivation to get up and do something instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself. So I'm thinking that I don't want to think of being AF as a struggle, or a difficult thing in my life. I want it to just be a choice I made, in order that I can live the rest of my life better, and not in a haze. That's my new perspective!
Off for a walk with me brother, then I'll be back for tea and chocolate (have Milka stashed away )
Have a great sunday everyone :l

Hey Neart girl, wondering where you were hiding. I've just eaten a lovely chicken and salad sandwich and I am CRAVING chocolate - none in the house and only back from the supermarket, deffo not going out again. Might have a little 'peak' in sons room - he's bound to have a stash ( on second thoughts, I might find more than choccie, might give it a miss)

                          Sober October Challenge!

Hi everyone - I am here too. Overcame a bad night last night with no drinking. Went to my first function, decided it was too soon, and left without ever going inside. Was glad I did -- I'll have to face that challenge when I have more sober days under my belt!

Dead bloody right Chooch, never put yourself anywhere that's going to strain early sobriety. Course the time will come - 'enjoy' your 'self-indulgence' at the moment, nothing, absolutely NOTHING is more important than staying sober. My hubs only has to take one look at my face if a social function comes up and he says no - I don't care if I'm being selfish - which of course I'm not being, nobody can be more selfish than a drunk!

Thanks, Molly. It was unlike me to do something like that, but I just had to - made my husband drop me off at a restaurant while he went to the event and then come back and get me. Very radical for me but I'm so glad I did it.

Great job Choochie! And great job to your husband for going along with your wishes. I agree any kind of function during this time is just too much for me, as well. You should be really proud of yourself!

Have a great rest of the day everyone!
