I had to put down my dog down today, she would have been 14 next month, I knew the time was coming but it hurts so much to know I will never hear her bark again or give me a kiss, my kids grew up with her, my oldest is taking it real hard. My other dog looks lost, just really really hard, the hardest part about owning a dog is this. She had a great life much longer than what her life expectancy should have been, she was part newfoundland and part bernise mountain dog, so 14 was pretty old. Will miss her greatly!!

    Love you Rock Dog!!

Twosox - I am so sorry for your loss and know what you are going through. We had to put our 4 year old lab mix down because of lyme's disease. Hardest thing I have ever been through in my life! Hope you read Zen's poem -

Zen - beautiful! I love this and even though it's been 8 years since we had to put our dog down, this is so comforting to me and I know it will be to a lot of others out there as well.

Hi Two, I am really sorry about your loss. I remember well the day that we had to say goodbye to our family lab - I still miss him. Remember all the great times, and remember how good of a friend she was. Hill

Hi Two - I love animals more than people ( I know we're not supposed to) and have had to go through what you're having to do (several times). Just know that we are thinking of you and are so sorry for your loss.

Twosox, I am so very sorry to hear about Rock Dog. It is extremely difficult to make the decision to have a beloved pet put down but take solace in the fact that you and your children provided him a loving home and companionship. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Hunni, i'm so sorry. I know how it feels. I lost my cat a few months ago. He got hit by a car as he was returning home for his dinner ='( he was so much more then a cat to us, he was a close member of our family and was always there. I know there is nothing that anyone can say that will make what you're feeling any better. I know that your house must feel empty and everything is just sooo wrong. Hang in there. In a few days time, it'll start getting easier. I know it sounds odd but i found lighting some nice sented candles helped me make the house feel warmer without our little buddy.
                              *Huge hugs*
