What are you loving about being AF....

    Hi MWO friends,

I am literally high on life today, like the Pink Cloud has come back only bigger:kudos:

Day 54 and reflecting on why I am loving being AF :

    - I am getting my self respect back
    - I am present - here for myself and my family
    - I am letting go of past mistakes and have stopped beating myself up
    - My anxiety is pretty much gone - no more heart palps at night
    - Everything is brighter and each moment is precious.
    - I am being true to myself
    - I feel absolutely marvelous
And of course loving being a part of this wonderful community :l

I could go on and on, please share how you are feeling..

What are you loving about being AF....

    Peace,

I'm doing great - have an hour or two in the evening where I'm edgy but I've been getting through it:

    - Best sleep of my adult life (had no idea how much alcohol was undermining my zzzzzs)
    - Feel absolutely fantastic every day
    - Am able to concentrate in my job
    - Have patience with others
    - Anxiety is gone - used to wake up at 3 am and not be able to go back to sleep - heart beating fast, worrying about EVERY little inconsequential thing.
    - If I wake up to have to pee in the night I go right back to sleep
    - Quality of sleep is totally different - amazing!

I'm trying not to feel too cocky because I see others having a hard time after being AF for months. So, I'm guarded. However, for now everything is INCREDIBLE

THANKS TO EVERYONE HERE - YOU ARE WONDERFUL FOR HELPING! :thanks:

    Choochie:yay:

What are you loving about being AF....

      Hi Peace and Choochie!
Great posts! I am loving everything about being sober!!

-Waking up feeling good and rested
-Actually sleeping and not being in an alcohol induced coma
      -Taking more pride in myself
      -Time for facials, nails, hair
      -Reading, reading and more reading!
      -Cooking healthy meals
-Having real "talks" with my daughter, not just pretending to listen and scooting her off so I can get back to drinking
-Being alert at work and not in a "fog", my brain function is back
-My eye color is green again, not "bloodshot"
-Being able to drive after 7:00pm
-No more waking up wondering what I did last night, and being embarrassed after finding out

The list goes on and on! Remember, nobody ever woke up in the morning thinking "I wish I had drank last night!"

      K9
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

Hi Peaceseeking, I am really glad to hear that you are feeling well. Thanks for spreading this positive and helpful post.

Your third point about moving on from past mistakes and not beating yourself up, this relates to a topic I have been working on in my post about past demon's. I would love your input on how you have mentally worked on this aspect.

          All the best to you,

                    Hi Peace,

Freedom, Clarity, Pride. The belief that anything is possible, and actually taking action, and seeing that happen with my own eyes.

'I am part of all that I have met, yet all experience is an arch wherethro', gleams that untravelled world whose margins fade, forever and forever when I move'

                    Zen soul Warrior. Freedom today-

                      Hi Hillside,
I find, the longer I am AF the less the demons rear their ugly heads. I am better equipped mentally to let them go and carry on. This is not easy mind you, I still have moments where flashbacks cause me to shudder in disbelief...We learn and move on, if we don't learn and keep on making the same mistakes, then that is a big problem.

In the past I use to chase the awful memories away with AL, now the memories are fading as I get stronger.

Welcome back, it is a bumpy journey that takes many tries at times.

I love all the lists and I especially love that line K9! You are right. There has NEVER been an occassion where I wish I would have drank. Geez, even back when I was drinking I never wished in retrospect for more drinks. I as always wishing for less less less while craving (and drinking) more more more.

I love feeling optimistic about my days instead of wanting to kill myself.

PeaceSeeking, great post. Wow! Your list is what I needed to read. I like the idea of getting "self respect back" and for "letting go of past mistakes". Your entire list is encouraging.
