Mama!!! You are rockin! I bet you feel so much better. It's amazing what happens when we remove the poison.

I'm working on a different type of poison...day 3 of not smoking...

Hi guess tomorrow will be day 1 for me. I 'm scared about withdrawals. What are they like? How long do they last?

          Hi Sugardog,
Withdrawals are different for everyone. Some people don't even have them. How much do you usually drink per day?

          Oh, and welcome! :welcome:

about a pint of voka per day. this is my second try and am determined to quit! I layed off for a day and a half cold turkey and was shaking everywhere.. Ick.. Now I stopped 2 hours ago and need to wait 72 hours to see if I make it or go to the emergency room..I,ll probably be shaking to much to write tommorow but I have slowed down alot since Tueday...maybe I'll be ok.. I hope..My last detox was a nightmare

sugardog, can you go and get something for the withdrawal from your doctor? I am not sure what some people take but there are medications to help ease the symptoms. I was given Ativan a couple of years ago along with Trazedone to help me sleep. (yep - I was doing some serious tipping back, back in the day!)

There is help to ease this. Just be very careful while coming off. It can be dangerous going cold turkey.

              Welcome to MWO, BTW!

                Sugardog-
Did you undergo a supervised detox last time, or just ride it out at home? Can you call anyone to stay with you for the next couple of days?

Best wishes Sugar. Plenty of water to flush out the toxin's.

                      sugardog,

Lots of luck and love to you! It really does suck. I know. I had hallucinations on two occasions a few years back when I was coming off of vodka. Tremors, sick as a dog. I can completely empathize with you!

Do you have a ride to the ER if necessary? Keep us posted on how you are doing, OK?

Anyone want to join me in some AF weeks?

I'd love to join, but I am just on day 5 just now and clinging to ODAT for dear life. If I can get past the weekend I'll feel a whole lot more optimistic about committing to a longer term goal.

My first goal was to reach today, my next is Monday, after that, I might feel strong enough to join in wholeheartedly. For now I am happy to say I won't drink today (first AL free Friday in forever!) Good luck and best wishes to you all, I am so full of admiration and hugely encouraged just by reading the thread.

                              :goodjob:

Hi Kaje-Welcome! You can do this!
Thanks Guitar-always good to have veteran support!
Fighting- I understand how you feel- For some reason when Michelle started this thread it seemed like I could do this- the 60 day challenge was like a mega goal and I wanted in-I don't know if that makes sense-but -I guess I am one for a challenge and the 30 day challenge just made me think-well, after 30 days I can drink- but for some reason putting 60 out there changed my thought process - it's going to be an interesting challenge-especially with the holiday season coming up-but I look forward to being the sober strong one-and saying " No".
Fighting I am only on day 4- btw- so you are ahead of me...
Hope to see you in here again!
