    Day 3 for me

    Hi All,

I am on day 3 and feel pretty good. I already started excercising. Not sure how long I can keep that up but I am willing to try. Just walking and using my stair thing. Not sure if it is really stairs, you kind of twist like you are dancing. I did it last night while watching the CMA Awards.

I still feel a little shakey today. I am working and have a bunch to do but need to take this time to post so I can get it out of my mind.

How long do the shakes last? I am trying to do this sutley. But I am probably going to have to tell folks soon at work that I am stopping. I thought I might just say that I am doing it to feel better and work on my health.

    Thank you
Today is the first day of the rest of my life and I can kick this :new:

Tempted, exercise and posting--you're really coming out fighting! Good for you!

I had the shakes for about 3 days. I didn't tell anyone, except for posting here, for a couple of weeks, then let my fiance know, my kids know, my mother know, and gradually everyone else is figuring it out. I also loaded up on every resource out there: books, supps, drugs, you name it. You do what's best for you. Congratulations!

      Thank you.

Do you attend AA meetings? I know that I am singing the same song because I found time to drink, I should be able to find time to go to meetings. But I would stop and buy AL on the way home from work and sneak down and drink it in my car at home. I would drink it very fast and be done with it.

I work late and live 1 1/2 hours away. Trying to find a meeting during the week is not working for me.

I am definitely going to attend on the weekend.

      Thanks,

I don't use AA, Tempted, but I know several regulars who've been sober for at least a year who do. The AA might have online meetings (?). I know Women for Sobriety does. I truly believe fellowship with others in this fight is key to succeeding, so go for it. You can always try something else if it's not a good fit.

          thanks,

I really do not want to go to AA either. I have the book and do believe in the change and am spiritual. I also do want to change.

I plan to make good positive changes. I bought a coloring book last night at my age 47. LOL I colored and it relaxed me.

          I am silly.

You and I are BOTH silly then! I color with my kids all the time - I am 46! I do anything to fill the time that I spent drinking wine. Whatever non-AL related stuff you need to do, just do it! You are doing great. I am 11 days today AF after a long while of drinking at least a few glasses of wine a night. I am feeling so much better. Do whatever makes you feel relaxed and keeps you from giving in. You have a good attitude and are totally on the right track! I never went to AA - I also work 1 1/2 hours from home (one way) and I simply don't have the time. I post here regularly now and get the fellowship and friendship I need. AA was never my bag, although it is a great program. Anyway, good luck to you and again, you're doing great! It's hard, but well worth it! :goodjob:
