              Day One

Jenny, Sharky, Energise, Madmans, dlw - and to all the newbies here - have a super AF day. It is soooooooooo worth it!

Jenny - agreed - you've got to learn to deal with your kids sober! I find that I'm pretty bitchy too at times. My husband bears the brunt of that. Usually happens at my "witching" hour. I do think I've noticed that I'm getting better (I hope). I think we're just going through changes that will take some time to even out.

              Big hugs to everyone:l

                  Day One

                  Good to have you DLW!

Yes I know the feeling Sharky! I used to go to the gym everyday before the time change and now I'm having a hard time getting there! I am a lot more focued now though!

Choochie I am very short with the kids 6-9 which is my "witching hour" but its also the the only time I have with my kids so I'm not sure if it's one or the other. I spoke with my son last night and apologized for yelling and we agreed to work together to decrease the yelling and have more fun with our time together. My kids are 14 (girl) and 11 (boy) so I can talk to them like adults and we can have an understanding. They are my best friends and the reason I wake up in the morning and live each day. I am so lucky to have them and I want to show them that everyday instead of yell everyday so we will be working on that! On ward and upward!

                        Day One

MM - I wrote myself a very long letter right after I stopped drinking. It goes into detail about my alcohol experience. If I'm ever tempted, I read it. I also have tried to change my thinking. I read the book The Easy Way to Stop Drinking by Allen Carr and it has helped. The premise is teaching you how to look at alcohol in a completely different way. If you can implement what he teaches, you don't ever feel like you're missing something by not drinking. I'm pretty new at this, though, so I don't know what it will do for me long term. It has helped so far. Most others on this site say it has helped them (even some of the people who have been sober a while).

OK almost made it. Got through the drive home and making dinner without AL. Did have to have a red bull because I am so tired! I think I'll make it through day three to day 4! I have been invited by my sis to go to El Chico on Friday. . . that will be hard but I think I can manage. How is everyone tonight?

Hi Jenny, doing well here. You sound good -- you've made it through the toughest days phsically. Now, just have a plan for your outing so you're not caught by surprise. You know, what you will say to others, what you will drink, how you will exit early if things get tough.....

                              Day One

I will do that Choochie. It will be just me and my sis and she is supportive but I have never been one to say others can't do what they want around me even if I choose not to partake. I have to be able to be strong in a setting in which temtations lye. I can't make others responsible for my comfort. Thank you so much Choochie for your advice and support!

Oh, that's super that you'll be with someone close to you who knows what you're trying to do. Sometimes it's hard on people if their friends pressure them. Sounds like this won't be that kind of situation. That's great.

                                Have a nice night!!
