Any suggestions for a grown up Al free drink?
The first thing you will find about socialising sober is that you simpy don't need to worry about a 'drink'. By that I mean whatever you choose you'll perhaps only need 1 or 2 of them the whole evening because you are not longer drinking for the effect.
Ok regards drinks cranberry, orange and soda, a St Clements, flavoured mineral water, tea, chamomile tea, green tea, coffee..............and most of the time most people don't notice either.

Hi Charlotte,
I started with appeltise, and the red/white versions grapetise too.
Kinda went mad on it for a few nights sometimes drinking 2 bottles a night but didnt care, its a soft drink, NOT loaded with sugar and at $3 a bottle who cares.
It wears off n now i often just have iced water.
I do like to keep the red grapetise stuff in stock and i use it as a red wine supplement with a meal and find its very nice, chilled of course, as you would a sparkling shiraz.

I drank way too much coffee in the beginning.
Water with lemon slices
Tonic water with lemon or lime slices
Cranberry juice with club soda or another carbonated water type beverage
V8 Juice
Chinese tea
I am big into the Chinese tea (green tea) at the moment.

For something a bit more special, I like juice and sparkling water. The sky is the limit in terms of joices and various mixtures. A special glass is nice too!

Ronker
What you did with the Appletise was what is sometimes referred to as 'reinforcing' addictive behaviour. By that I mean you chugged the soft-drink in the same manner you'd probably drink AL, especially the going to get more reserves - and by that I don't mean you'd drink and drive merely the way you went out into the night for another bottle. At the moment it's fine because at least it's not AL however it is something to watch out for since it can sneakily put you back into the sort of mind set that can lead back to drinking.

Any suggestions for a grown up Al free drink?
Hi Charlotte,
for me I always have a lot of club soda, cold, and in the fridge. Not sure if you call it the same thing in Australia. It is carbonated water. I find it so thirst quenching, and perhaps it mimicks some of what beer used to feel like, I don't know.
At night, sometimes I add ice to a large glass, fill mostly with club soda, add pink grapefruit juice - just a splash (ruby red is the best), and it is marvelous. This drink also helps to battle the sugar cravings I still get, probably because of the grapefruit flavour.
Since club soda has not cafeine or sugar it is great. At a bar etc, I ask for this type of drink. Like Mario says, at night I also drink caffeine free, herbal teas.
