Hello All: I am brand new and this is my first post. I am just learning my way around the site and came upon the personal challenge you have set for yourself Jenny and I would like to join you in this and support you in this. Our whole social life seems to revolve around drinking - and its a wagon I need to get off of. How are you approaching your 33-day challenge??? I have been doing alot of reading lately and am a little leary about spending my money on promises for quick cures through using herbs to curb the craving. Any thoughts anyone that can help me get clarity around all of this.

I'm starting my rest of the year sober challange today!

Hi Search No More. I have been trying to go totally sober for a year now. I have managed up to 54 days sober in a row in 2011. When i first started out getting healthy with vitamins and supplements and lots of exercise worked better than anything. After the basic supplements and adding exercise I started to tweak my diet. Now I am down 15lbs from last year and I feel great. I still struggle with not drinking but I do not drink everyday or even every week. I drink about two times a month now and I am trying to stop doing that. I take a multi vit. omega 3,6,9 with extra 3, calcium, vit. D, and L-glutamine. The L-glutamine does not do alot for the cravings but I do not take high doses either. I take 1500 mg a day but it does so much for my mood I take it anyway. This program of being healthy and exercise works but it take will power and the want to really not drink ever, not just tonight.

Thanks Jenny - sounds like you really disciplining yourself for an all-round healthier life.
Bravo. Do you recommend taking the Kudzu Rescue? Did you take it and did it help.
There is also another website that has some interesting research on it - called Last Call - here is a link to the research that has been conducted about the imbalances that create or are created by alcohol for certain persons.

Also - have you made use of any of the hypnotherapy CD's - thought it was included if you became a subscriber - but am still finding it difficult to maneuver the website.

Hopefully I have done this right and you receive my response.

Welcome Search No More, you will find all kinds of info, good advice and support. I am just at the end of Day 6, myself I want to get to Day 30 and 60 and so forth. I am also looking into the web site Last Call.
Jenny I am sure you will finish your 33 Day challenge, especially since you have gone 54 days before. I managed to go 3 months in a row also, unfortunately I was living with a very negative force. He badgered me till I had enough and started again. When I left I was AF for 1 month, but since everything was so new and I was depressed, I started again. From then on I took a downward spiral, and began drinking 24/7. I woke up last weekend and decided I had to stop. I did just that on Nov 22. I believe you can beat this thing as some call Alien, I call it a Demon, I know I am still new, and sometimes I feel very confident, and when I do not all our friends here at MWO are right there to help.

Hello Guys - I'd like to join in if it's not too late.

Sadly...yes being sober is completely AF. It took me some time to understand that but the good thing is it's not Sadly...it's Happily.

Mylife! I had to smile when I saw you were on here! Welcome!

yes sadly....AF is no alcohol at all. I saw on another thread that BellaGirl had 6 sips of wine yesterday and she is counting that as back to day one. That seams extreme to me but I would probably count that too.

What does everyone think of starting a December challenge thread call Santa's sober sleigh on December 1st? We had that name last year and I loved it! I had much success in December last year...My first 30 days, no drinking on Christmas or New Year...I would like that again. Mylife I think you had much success last year around this time too!

Day 5 y'all lets have a happy Monday and share the love today!

Search No More: Kudzu I have found seams better for after you drink than to help you not drink. As far as the hypno cds the people on here that have tried them swear by them. I have never tried them so I can not advise.

Welcome Sadly and if dreams were horses (we need to shorten that name lol) stay and post! I would love the company!

2 Weeks AF for me today - so happy and feeling fantastic. I don't miss alcohol at all, and I attribute the change of heart to meditation and Buddhism.

Hoping everyone achieves their AF goals today.

Hi Jenny! Nice to see my old pal on here! Santa's Sober Sleigh sounds just great.

Unwasted - I have been listening to Wayne Dyers "Change your Thoughts, Change your life" on my Ipod while I walk in the mornings. It's the Tao with his motivational spin on it - I find it very inspirational.

I've tried the CD's and they're really good as well - it's just hard for me to find time at night when I can really be alone and relax with them - if I wait too long I just fall asleep! LOL.
