Sharky. . .I did notice after the 30 days then the one drinking night, when I recognized that I still have a problem, it was very easy to just go AF again. No real thoughts to the contrary, no cravings, no tug a war with the beast. It was like ok that didn't work, back to the drawing board. Not to say there are not the fleding thoughts of modding still but not anytime soon. Also this time the days don't seem so important. Its just like ok get through the week no drinks. Sunday through Thursday is a breeze!

Hello threaders,
I have to say I noticed after my - only 27 days - that it is easier just to choose not to drink. I'm also trying not to stress over the days thing so much and just focus on how I feel. I agree, exercise makes a huge difference. Actually I have to agree with Jenny, this week was easy. I don't think I'll have any big problems this weekend...nothing planned so hopefully NOT!
Have a great afternoon.

You know - you guys are both right. Thanks for pointing that out! Makes total sense. I'm really not stressing about not drinking, an easy and painless decision (I think this is a great sign for all of us - as long as it remains this way). Not worried about the number but just the immediate future (today, tomorrow etc..) and it feels pretty darn good.
All the best for an AF weekend!

Everyone and everything I read says stay in the moment and quit worrying about the future, but sometimes it's so hard to get that! Anyway, right now I am in the moment and feeling great.
Hope you both have a great weekend.

Hey guys, my friend Tara had a really good night. Her mom was visiting when I got there at 7:45 and I got to go in right after so she didn't have to go back to her cell. So she got to stay out for like an hour and 45 minutes! She loved it, no one had made it in to see her since I went last Saturday. I told her I would come on Friday and Saturday and her husband could come on Tuesday and Sunday so she would have a visitor every time she is allowed. She will be in for 6 months, thats until July 15, she said she is counting weeks only (like us now) she said there were to many days in 180 and only 24 weeks so she ticks off the weeks every Monday. I can only imagine. . .there but for the grace of God I go.
Have a good one everyone. You always succeed if you never stop trying.

Ok so last night I decided that I would try to drink wine, I know, I know. But what you probably think happened did not, I drank about 5 or 6 ounces of white wine and had to choke down every drink, it taste like vomit! It was horrible, I got a little buzz but for sure did not want another glass! And this morning I woke up a little "off" not really hungover or dehydrated but not perfect either. So now I know I hate wine and beer and tequila, vodka is my drink so much so that I'll just drink the whole thing! Silly really! Well experiment #3 is a bust! So far the only thing that works is experiment #1. . . totally AF. Bummer really, I would kinda like a drink every once in a while but it does not look like it's in the cards for me!You always succeed if you never stop trying.

Hi Jenny. I was going to suggest maybe you could try wine as it's not as high of an AL %. Also, there is a program here in Florida that actually works with Naltrexone to help people MOD if they don't want to go Abstinent. Of course I got their Literature and read all about it. Anyway, in the literature, they said that they discouraged Vodka.
Anyway, have a great evening both! The good thing is b/c you didn't like the wine you didn't overdrink!

Hey guys, I'm feeling alittle low today. I very much lost my way this weekend, but I'm here and I'm fine and I'm back on board. I will end January with 28 of 31 days AF. Thats better than December by 2 days so there is an improvement. February is short so maybe I can keep my commitment that month. Have a good night all.You always succeed if you never stop trying.

Hello Guys!
Jenn, don't feel down. If this were easy anyone could do it and no one would have a problem. I also had a few glasses of wine on Sat night, and figured I'd start again on Feb 1. Then yesterday, I didn't feel like drinking so I didn't and I don't plan to today, so I got a head start.
Anyway, if we just keep at it, I'm sure we will get there eventually. At least by trying to Abstain I've got a pretty good Mod program going!
Have a great week all, and let's keep this train positive! We can get through Feb AF with no problems, I'm sure of it!

Thank you so much for you positive post ML, you made me smile! I don't mind having a drink on occasion however I hate feeling like crap the next day. . .is there not a happy medium! We that will be a question for later, 30 more days is my goal and that will be the end of Feb so come on Feb, you will be my first completely sober month! You always succeed if you never stop trying.

Hi guys-
Feeling down as well. Feel that I have lost my way and need to get back on track. Had too much wine on Sat (didn't think I did) and got major attitude from wife. Didn't drink that much but boy it effected me. Other than that night the modding has been OK when I have a plan...when not...I tend to catch myself and get discouraged of how I got there...
Time to refocus on AF for another spell.....
Best to everyone.

Hang in there Sharky! Just remember how good you felt when you weren't drinking. Also, remember when you don't drink for awhile it hits twice as hard when you do. It really affects me when I don't drink for awhile, too. Especially the Hangover!! Yuck, why do we do that to ourselves??
Anyway, on to feeling great for another month. That's the way I'm looking at it!! It is discouraging, but we really don't have any choice other than to keep trying. I know we will eventually beat this thing if we just keep on trying. Hang in there guys!! We can do this.
