    howdy folks... still here

    Hope everyones well n doing best they can.

    Well tomorow will be 21 days n I suddenly thought....holy smoke thats a minimum of 120 but prob nearer 160 bottles of beer I havent drunk, not to mention about 4 x 5ltr casks of wine and about a crate of slate bourbon premix!

    Holy shit thats a bucket full when looked at like that, not to mention being about $400 better off n 5kg lighter!!

    I may mod at xmas but come Jan will right back on the wagon again for looong time again.

    May not drink at xmas but think might need to socialise a bit, give me chance to regulate it too.

    but for now...feelin good

      Hey Ronker,
      You are doing wonderfully!
      And choosing to stop near Christmas when there's so much alcohol around everywhere you turn.

      It was nearing Christmas when I finally said "enough" too, and found this great site.

      That's a lot of money saved.

                Congrats on 3 weeks, Ronkers! I wonder if you could try separating the drinking=socializing link in your head. That's learned behavior; no matter how widespread the practice, how many beer commercials we've sat through over the years, it's an illusion. In the end (or even in the beginning or middle--we don't interact authentically under the influence), AL is isolating. Your friends and family are there whether there are chemicals in your glass or not.

                  Ronker, so glad you're still on board. Congrats!! Think long and hard before you give up your sobriety to xmas. Not worth it - you know that starting and stopping makes it harder each time to quit drinking - just sayin............And, if long-term sobriety is your goal, you're going to have to learn to socialize without it. That has been my biggest challenge, but I'm doing it. And, you know what, I'm getting good at it and it's becoming less and less of an issue. If suddenly I started drinking, I would just have to learn all of that over again and it would be much tougher. I really hope you'll reconsider.

                    Congratulations Ronker! I'm 10 days behind you -- I didn't have the courage for Thanksgiving I think. I do for Christmas, though. Have a great AF Holiday and New Year! I think it will be so worth it!!
