Happy Sunday! Witchy, I find that I am weak when I'm tired out. So pamper yourself for a couple days and you might lose the cravings. I'm like that with sweets too, if I get tired, I don't really give a darn if I cheat. Great for you Choice! I would love to have a clean five months. Almost one again, that's good enough for now!! And so true Rebirth, alcohol makes you think you are funny, pretty, and well behaved, but you are not! I just looked at a picture of me at a wedding last summer. I remember thinking I looked good that night, OH NO I DID NOT! I looked DRUNK and goofy. Anyway, that's in the past I will forget I ever saw that until I want to drink again and then I will drag it out! Have a great day!!:cat::rays:

hi kids
well, I didit, stayed sober, but i think it was only cause I came home & jumped into my jammies streight away,I had a meh sleep last night, one of my cats decided to get her crazy on about 4.30 this morning, but thats ok, I'd still rather face teh world tired from a crappy sleep, than thru a hangover, besides, I'm not working today so i can have a nanna nap if I need, I am understanding more & more about how my adiction works so I can plan for it like yesterday, only taking enough money for lunch.
amy way. I am off to have something for lunch & then look at teh rest of teh day
will catch up with hte rest of you later
stay strong

evening everyone i didn't drink today but i have had some struggles. I'm thinking of getting antibuse from my dr but concerned about side effects and more strain on my liver. I'm also on anti depressants so not sure if my dr cud even prescribe for me. Anyway i'll think about and see how tings go. Its only a last resort as a deterrant as i wud hate to be very sick if i drank while taking it. Good night all.

Hi Everyone!
Yay Choice on your 5 months..that is so awesome! I believe you posted over the weekend of how good it feels not to be under the "spell of wine", how true it is!
I found everyone's posts interesting about going to weddings and other social events and not drinking now, and watching how everyone drinks and how they act drunk. This is going to be a new experience for me, as I too, was one of the "drunk" people at weddings and parties, etc., it was like people expected it. That was not good! So, suprise, they are not going to see that girl anymore! I have a dinner party coming up this Friday for Hubby's birthday and it is going to be my very first social event where I am not drinking but everyone else is. Please give me strenth everyone! I'm not planning to have a drop other than mineral water with lemon, but it is going to feel "weird" being the only sober one in the crowd. It's all family too. It will also be the first that my mother, an alcoholic, learns that I am sober. That will be something.
Good job, Witchy, on beating those cravings over the weekend! I hope you have a peaceful night's rest tonight.
I have a question for you all...this is my 16th day AF, and for the past 2 mornings, I have woken up feeling like I have a hangover! Headache and nausea. Now, I'm not sure if it has to do with a new contact lense prescription that my eye doctor gave me on Friday (and my eyes are adjusting to it and cause the headaches, which in turn, for me, cause nausea) or if it is my body finally detoxing after 2 weeks AF? I think it may be the eye thing, but I was just curious if this is normal for anyone else at this point in the game. Nothing else has changed, so hopefully it will pass by tomorrow. If not, I'm going back to my old contact prescription...even if it is stronger than my new one, ugh!
Hi to everyone on the jumping list...there are so many of us now, isn't it great!?
Have a great night!Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.

Morning all! Haven't been around much - been mad busy sorting all sorts of shite and heading into work for a late shift now. Witchy, good on ya fighting the good fight - we'll have a few of them I reckon. Blondie, not sure bout the 'hangover feeling' at 16 days. I know I got very restless round the 3 week mark and after posting about it I was told it was a normal thing - similarly at 3 months - no idea why - maybe the blah feelings are to do with the contacts prescription - I just don't know, someone will be along with better info I'm sure.
Firefox, I took antabuse at the very beginning of all this, and actually took one as a precaution before christmas - I was on anti-depressants at the time and the same doc prescribed both so I presume they are ok together. I don't like the fact they affect the liver either tho - I've spent long enough gettin that healthy - however, anything bar practically nothing is better than drinking so balance that up in your head. Personally I had no side effects from it - obviously I didn't drink, actually did drink last Jan after not taking it for bout 10 days and still got hot flushes and felt awful so that's how powerful a drug it is!!
Everyone else - good morning and well done us on sober weekends - heading to the end of Jan and we is kicking ass girls!!

Good morning everone!
Hey Blondie - weird - I'm on day 22 and I'd say for the past 4 or 5 days, I've have woken up with a sight headache and then just haven't felt great during the day. Had 2 different lunch dates and the food just didn't appeal to me. Could be the contacts in your case or in mine, maybe just a touch of some bug. Either way - NOT FAIR - huh? We should be feeling absolutely GREAT! Still not complaining though - AF is way way better than a little minor discomfort.
Choice - :goodjob: on 5 months! You are awesome.
Witchy - good job to you as well for staying AF.
Have a great day everyone!Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Happy "Not So Blue Monday" Jumpers!
I say Not So Blue 'cause no day is ever so blue being AF now...agreed?
Jolie/Mollyka, thanks for your feedback on the headache. Feeling better today...still woke up with a mild headache and I am convinced it is the new contact prescription, so I am back wearing my old prescription to test out my theory and see if I will feel better. I also remember that I added some more carbs to my diet, which translate to sugar, and that may also be the culprit. I was doing very strict Atkins for 2 weeks and feeling really great on that (combined with being AF), and then I thought I could sneak in some missed snack foods like trail mix and nuts and some fruit, but maybe my body is just saying no to all forms of sugar cause I feel like I was hungover, bloated, yuk! It could also be my monthly visit from Auntie Flow, who knows? So, I am back on strick low carb to get the sugar out of my system (geez, I sound liked I wolfed down a bag of chocolate or something when all I did is eat a banana, an apple and a handful of trail mix with Goji berries...shame on me...lol). Oh, I did have some raw, vegan dark chocolate, but only 2 squares and not enough to reek any havoc I should think. I just don't think I can eat any simple sugar anymore, no matter what form, fruit/dried fruit, etc. I agree with you Jolie, it is still better to feel some minor discomforts than to wake up every day feeling like crapola from too much wine!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday so far. I am off to bake a few loaves of banana bread, one for hubby and one for the gang at work. I add shredded coconut and rum extract to mine (no AL in that!), along with a few pinches of cinnamon and nutmeg, so it has a tropical zing to it. Then I put some dried banana chips on top and sprinkle it with cinnamon and raw sugar, so it has a sort of crunchy topping to it. It's my husband's fav and he can almost eat the whole loaf in one sitting! I won't be having any due to the sugar, but it's pure aromatherapy when it is baking for sure! I get lots of extra ripe organic bananas from work that just don't sell, so instead of throwing them in the trash, I flag them to take home and I stick them in the freezer until I make banana bread. They seem to be even better for baking after they have been frozen and then thaw out. Anywhoo...tonight we have a party for work, it won't be a drinking party as most of the people I work with are sober for the most part, except for a few, and it will be BYOB for them. Will be interesting to see who drinks and how they act after a few. But it's just a work get together and it's a Monday night, so it won't be a drink fest. My husband said, be careful if you drink after not drinking for a few weeks. I said, I'm just not going to drink (very firm in my blonde wifie voice) and he said Oh, Ok. I don't think it has sunk in with DH that I am planning the rest of my days AF, but one day at a time, right?
Good day all! I'm off to see how my fellow cruisers are doing on the 7 day AF tropical cruise...today we are in Barbados, ahhhhh! :hWhatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. Blonde! You are in Barbados?? I grew up on that island and left for the UK when i was 15 years old. I actuelly have duel nationality ( Barbadian and british). I am adopted by a european family by the way.
My entire family lives there now ( brother, sister mum and dad). Oh lucky you. I feel a tinge of jealousy coming on. I do miss that place...
Dont know how long you have been abstaining but I suffered from fathom hangovers for weeks at the beginning of my AF journey. I think it's the body withdrawing from AL. Just like when you withdraw from sugar etc...but it may be your contacts! Did you try the banana bread in barbados? It's to die for!
Happy monday all. Will get back later.Be strong-

Hi Jumpers
Just checking in to say hi and to let you know that I made it through the weekend with flying colours. Sounds like everyones else is doing great too. Congrats on thinking yourself through a tough time there Witchy..well done. It seems so important to know what ones triggers are. That way we can head them off before they take hold of our thinking.
How cool to have duel citizenship Rebirth. I think that Blonde is not in Barbados, she is dreaming about it and making it a virtual reality in her Cruise theread here on the Starting Out Boards. I am sure she/we wish we were though.... have a great AF day all!!Change your thoughts, and you change your world. - Norman Vincent Peale

Hi Rebirth!
Lucky you to have grown up partly in that beautiful island. While I have been to Barbados before for a real visit, Judestir is right, I was referring to the MWO thread I started in the new section...a few of us are aboard the SS MWO on a virtual AF cruise to the tropics...sorry for the confusion! I certainly do wish it was reality that I was waking up in the tropics...as it stands now, it is bitter cold in my neck of the woods! You should join our cruise...it's be fun to pretend that we are all sailing away to paradise each day. That is so cool that you have dual citizenship! I loved Barbados, I hope to return for REAL somedayWhatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you.
