Half way through day 3 and can someone please talk me out of

going to get a drink? Need a reminder on why I don't need to drink.

It's been a long time since I have been here.
    Thanks!

    Hi Mya,

Think through the drink. You will feel relief at first as you have satisfied your craving to drink -- and then what will you feel? Foggy? Irritated? Sad? Listless? And how will your morning be tomorrow??

Hang in there, some days you just have to distract yourself minute by minute. You can do it!

Don't give up. You've already proved to yourself that you can get through the day without a drink. You don't need it. Ask yourself if you really even want it, you probably don't. It's not worth the trouble it causes.

        Hi mya,

This thread might be enough to put you off: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f9...eny-47177.html

        It certainly works for me.

Hi Mya~good for you for coming here. See? You don't want to have a drink. Good job on day 3 too! Have you watched the Rain In My Heart documentary? If you have maybe you could watch it again right now. It is the very top thread under General Discussion. Hang on-you can do it today!

You can also go into chat after that for the evening. Someone is almost always available.

I can't talk you out of it but there are so really good reason you can find in the two threads listed above.

What I do is take my L-glutamine and tell myself "ok well go to the liquor store but I have to do one thing first" the when I'm done I do that again and again until it's 9 and the store is closed. Then I say "oh well the store is closed looks like we won't be going tonight!" Just like you would a child, it works so well. The beast just sits and waits cause I tell it to LOL. Mind over matter you can do anything you want to do!

Phew Mya Im so glad about that! :goodjob:
I used to use the fast forward trick.... at the start we always think of how nice and relaxing/glamourous/rewarding or any number of crazy deluded notions for why we should drink. Then if you fast forward 4 hours the picture was never quite so pretty :H fast forward another 6 hours and you'd be waking up blearing eyed, hungover, dehydrated, full of remorse and frustration. Instead you are going to enjoy another wonderful awakening feeling good about yourself!

mya. I'm on day three as well so I "know the feeling". Glad you made it past temptation. It inspires me. We can all do it!

I was in that same boat today. Had to take kids to their dads for his time with them and the alone time is a big trigger for me. Put the trip off till liquor store closed. Passed by my usual places to buy beer. Got home, changed into pjs, made a cup of vanilla chai tea and hit the boards. Good to go tonight, no hangover tomorrow yay!! ODAT
