Its sunday evening and another af day for me. I'm broke anyway so no money for al. My sleep is improving a bit but still waking in the middle of the night and tossing and turning for a while. I've never been a great sleeper anyway but drinking makes it worse. Sleeping pills on prescription cvan be very addictive ao i don't want to go down that road. Your sleep should improve ukb when you get more af time. Not much on tv tonight again most saturday and sunday nights are bad and i'm not much in the mood for reading so i'll read posts on here and may be flick around the channels later. Well have a good sunday evening folks i'll check back tommorrow.

Thanks.
Sorry I've not posted much today after starting out with much gusto. I've actually been having a really good day, got a few things done but all in my own time so no pressures.
I think that really helps, not even considered a drink.

I'm glad to hear that you are in a good place ODAT, right
I know during the first few days and weeks I had to be very selfish and really be very kind to myself and put my safety and sobriety first. Give that gift to yourself and you are half way there.
Dewdrop :hEnjoy today - there will be no other one quite like it....

Good to hear you're feeling strong UK, I think a bit of selfishness doesn't hurt Dewie, I'm still pretty precious about me now and don't feel a bit bad!

well it seems good things are happening around here. lets hope we can continue with our 48hrs.
im a bit scared to say this out loud but i have only had 1 smoke today, and havent bought anymore tobacco. im thinking i might try 48 hours of not smoking... 11 hours so far (sounds a bit pathetic but never mind)
i had a very lazy day, got up late, fell asleep mid afternoon and filled the in between bits with a lot of lounging about. i did get the dogs out for a walk but thats about it.
onwards and upwards to another 48 hrsToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine
Keep passing the open windows

Great idea Uk. As the first 48 hours are sometimes the hardest.
I got tempted today. Saw a recipe and noticed it had my favourite poison in it. "Should i or shouldn't i?" I asked myself. "Maybe i can just get some cooking wine (sold in small satchels)", "or... maybe i could just get a bottle. I wouldn't drink that much, really, i wouldn't"...
Who was i trying to kid?
So, i wrestled with myself for the next 20 minutes. "Maybe i shouldn't make this particular dish", and the best of all "what will it taste like without wine? It just won't taste the same"!!! "Maybe i can knock on a neighbours door and borrow some wine". "Maybe i should get a half bottle".
Anyway, the question then became "what will it taste like without the wine? "Well, i remember my mum used to make it and i'm sure she didn't use wine and it tasted okay then". So, there i go, bought all the ingredients and until the last moment, was doubting my decision to make it without the red wine.
Went to a second supermarket on the way home to get an iced coffee, which entailed walking past a bottle shop. Whilst it was tempting to walk in, decided not to after a little fight with myself. Ended up walking to the car with a grin on my face, knowing that i'd beaten the urge, once again...One day at a time.. Sometimes it's one minute or one second at a time.. Most important thing is to look ahead and don't look back!

I'm in on this 48.
I did 3 days last week and I slept well, considered difficult issues without arcing up and managed to deal with life no problems. Fast forward 3 days and I've done $60 on grog, feel like shite, slept poorly eaten very poorly and not coped with life's issues.
I'll check in same time tomorrow. Makes it asier when there's a few of us to check with and support.
Thanks guys - will catch you soon

Jim, you've put it in a nutshell - difference how we feel drinking and not drinking. WHAT part of our brain can't remember that when we are tempted??? Change, I use balsamic vinegar most of the time in recipes instead of wine - every bit as good. My flatmate often drinks half a bottle of red wine and corks the rest so as I have no interest in red I use it to cook as well. Once the dish is fully cooked the alcohol is burned off and it is only the flavour. I'm guessing the dithering round the bottle shop didn't really have an awful lot to do with cooking tho. Well done you for quashing cravings so far - hope you managed thro dinner - I find when I eat the meal the cravings disappear, booze seems to like my tummy empty.

Gday Molly
You know the funny thing - drinking will over ride hunger. I had brekky today no probs, went out looking for a dog bed for the bargearse pup and got home at about 1pm. Fast forward 6 hours and a dozen beers are gone.......only tookt il 6 tilI figured I'd best arc the BBQ up to feed the brood. I was sozzled by 3 and I didn't care!! What a horrible life but if I had my way that'd be it!! So I got to get stuck in and make RIGHT NOW the start of me 48 hours. I won't look beyond that but will commit to the next 2 days.
Unfortunatly the devilon my shoulder is already pointing at events in the future where there's grog a plenty and where I'll be at risk. Being a biker, it's a real risk - esp on tours.

You could become a non-drinker bikie, or do what a friend of mine does, say you've given up drinking cos you want to lose your pot belly (that's if you have one!). Thing is, my friend really has cut down to lose his pot belly, quite sad when you think about it. People should stop because they respect themselves, not because of vanity, but if you have to use vanity as an excuse, why not?!One day at a time.. Sometimes it's one minute or one second at a time.. I really was only dithering around for the food, i promise!
Know the feeling about empty stomach. Some sort of craving for carbs i reckon. One day at a time.. Sometimes it's one minute or one second at a time.. Most important thing is to look ahead and don't look back!

I know a couple of bikers who just don't drink. Sure they get their leg pulled but they say they just aren't interested in losing their faculties.
By the way if you hadn't eaten from breakfast until 1pm that's just too long, I'm very careful about eating regularly since I know I get cravings coming up to meal times. I usually have a snack mid morning inbetween breakfast and lunch, usually protein with fruit or anything you have to hand. I'd advise never going longer that 3 hours without something.
