    to withdrawl or to not

Not sure if this should have been a new thread or not but here goes. I drink one and a half bottles of white wine during the week...every night and 2-3 on the weekends for about a year. I have stopped cold turkey with today being day 3. If I am going to have withdrawls when should I expect that? Maybe with the detox shake and tea I am drinking it will keep that from happening? Can anyone tell me or warn me at what point wil I be past that phase or what to look for?
    Thanks when

WWIC - My story is very similar to yours - same amounts - every day and on the weekends. Funny how we try to keep it to a certain amount thru the week and then just go all out on the weekends - huh? I stopped cold turkey on January 3rd. I've been drinking like this for probably around 8 or 9 years with very little break inbetween. Didn't try any of the meds - I did use the L-Glutamine religiously for the first couple of weeks. Used the powder and mixed it in with herbal tea. Drank lots of water with lemon and herbal caffeine-free tea. I like a lot of others here did experience several nights where I could not sleep or got very little sleep. I must say that being a little tired was definitely worth the guilt of waking up after another night of drinking! I feel I am lucky to not have any major withdrawal issues but if you notice something out of the ordinary, best to get help right away as I've heard withdrawl can be very dangerous to some. Hope this helps and HANG IN THERE! It will just keep getting better and better!

I had drank nightly at times--up to about the same amount of wine as you during the week (1.5 bottles) and perhaps a few beers too on the wekeend-- for maybe a couple years-- no withdrawl except for worrying all the time and feeling shame at first-- that to me was awful. I think if you are going to have really bad withdrawl maybe it is by 72 hours after? That is just what I read by googling though. Good luck!

        Hi,
I drank heavily for 15 years but I didnt have any withdrawals except for a disturbed sleep pattern.

I reckon after three days you should be fine. Like Jolie says it could take a while to get your sleep pattern back - I also found I had night sweats for a while afterwards, unpleasant but not dangerous. Keep doing what you're doing and all should be grand
          Good luck

Anything life threatening like seizures would have occurred by now. Now, your biggest issues will probably be cravings and sleep problems. I take timed release melatonin (Source Naturals) to help with sleep. You're doing great! Congrats on day three. :h
