Confused by definitions of problem drinkers

I work from home so can set my own hours - therefore get up later and go to bed later. I was on my own, as always, my friends live on the other side of town. I tend not to see them because they love to go out and get mashed but I never have that intention when I go out - it's always 'just for a couple', and ends up in mashedness so I can't in good conscience go out knowing that I will end up like that, it just happens, every time.

I came home early because there was nowhere else open (that would let me in) and it was more a stabilising drink after the weekend than anything fun.

Why don't you get a DVD and a couple of bottles of beer and chill out on the couch?

Yeah that's a good idea, though I have trouble concentrating on whole films, and I don't like drinking at home Or rather, I don't want to start doing that because it's the final threshold. I already drink on my own, if I start drinking on my own at home that's it, the last barrier gone!

Ok, but is the reason that you go out to the pubs etc cause you're lonely? I know it's a difficult question to answer, but I think men tend to suffer from loneliness a lot more than woman do. Probably cause woman are such good gossips etc etc:H
Or maybe it is cause you actually work at home. At the moment most of the work I do 'out and about' on site so to speak. But a couple of months ago I was doing a collection of paintings and making some furnishings for a small hotel that I was involved in doing up. I was in my flat 24/7 and nearly went stir crazy!!
Are you going out just to get away from your flat?

Yes, it's the only chance I get to see anyone - sometimes I am here working for days on end without leaving the flat. Yet when someone comes over I just want them to leave, when I'm out I can come and go as I please...

I do get stir crazy after a few days, most I can go is about five days before I have to go out.

              Hey Owly,

I wasn't suggesting the label Alcoholic, but thought you might like to know that the MWO Book (which you can download here) talks about "Problem Drinker" which is what I think you consider yourself. I'm the one struggling with which label I should wear on my forehead. I found the book very, very helpful. I hope you will to.

              Hey Amelia!!

Well I really wanted to watch the football tonight and it's not on terrestrial tv - i.e. only on in pubs so I was all ready to go out, felt it inevitable, didn't think too much of it and thought I could easily manage a quiet one. Then the feeling just passed, I'm staying in, not drinking, listening to it on the radio. I don't feel at any point there was any control involved, merely a feeling that rose and fell away.

Just had to pay customs tax for the extreme pack from the site, so that will arrive tomorrow, should be interesting!

                  Hi Owly,

Who were you going to watch on the footie?

Liverpool lost last night - bah humbug - but my husband has just phoned and said that they already qualified, so they put the youngsters on the pitch to play the game. ( ok - whatever )

We are not sure how Chelsea did, but I think they have qualified anyway.

Manchester U are playing tonight... and they NEED to win this game to be in the running... Hmmm As a LFC gal I hope... well you know.

Oh Do you know - I know Terry Owen, I have been boating up and down the River Dee with him in a rowing boat !, ( well before Michael made it ) - and spurned his advances ! Ha what a fool! If I knew then what I know now . ( he was a bit dodgy looking though ! )

hehe is that his dad then?

All English clubs have qualified as it stands, also Celtic. That's Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool. Unless Arsenal concede a goal in the last 10 minutes... as a Spurs fan, can't say I'm too fussed!

                                Chelsea - same sentiments - poop !

Do you know, I misunderstood what you said before, I thought you meant did MY dad say that.. But re-read and got it now Owly !!!!

NO it most certainly was not his Dad, but his elder brother ( Terry ) was named after his father.

And, the only reason I knew that Terry was Michael Owen's brother was because it was in the Daily Mail on a saturday, and it had a feature on the whole family. How Funny.

If you ever meet him ask :-
"Erm Excuse me do you have - two , twos' and a one", in a serious voice.

I don't know either, but we used to fall about laughing !!!

I could have been living in a mansion now !!! Ha Ha Ha - Tis True - The only downfall was ...

Did you read VIZ? - If you didn't , then I'm not going to bother explaining the joke !!!
