Yeah, I felt like that all the time. I've quit drinking a couple of times, but conversations with my daughter telling me she HATES it when I drink made me stop.

Things STILL happen to me that I don't want to happen. But at least I remember them, ya know?

I hear this a lot on this board. When you stop drinking, you get bored. Try to find something else to do, something you LIKE to do (other than drinking). Maybe you should try knitting??? :H

      Good luck!

        LOL! knitting

I was thinking of erm... getting a piano and learning that. I think some people just need more stimulation than others, and they are the ones who turn to drink and drugs to make up for the chemical deficiency in the brain - I read that in a science magazine I think.

I know, I know! Pole dancing.

My wife, for the first time in years, went to a typical local night club with her friends and evidently it's all the rage mate! Blokes as well as girls slithering up and down the things!

Supposed to keep you fit, you still get to go out and meet people till late, and you'll be too busy strutting your stuff to drink. Plus we'd all really love to see the pictures posted up here!! Just a thought.

                          Caju:

I saw where you posted over in general forum, and thought I would say welcome to you over here.

First, you took a great step by posting. It takes a fair bit of courage to become a forum member. I was in some other forums on the internet for a while before I came here, that were about other things, so I sort of just dived in first day here.

You mentioned you wanted to become a moderate drinker.

First step is to learn about the program. It is not preaching or anything like that. It is about healing using nutrional supplements, hypnosis CD's, exercise, and if you choose, some prescription drugs. It is not really set in stone, as many members use only those things that they find effective for them.

I chose to be completely abstinent almost a year ago, as I found I was not made to moderate, but I believe certain people can moderate their alcohol if they follow a few things with commitment.

There are several sections to this forum, and one is just for moderators. I mainly post in the long-term abstainers since that seems to be the place where I feel most comfortable. A lot of us visit the starting out section often to try and help those just starting out. Thats where I began, even after I had been sober for nine months! I found that just having someone to talk to about my diffiiculties with drinking, helped immensely, so it too is an important part of getting a handle on our drinking.

So anyway, since you have been reading for a few weeks, you probably know about some things work here, and know that for the most part, we are here to help no matter where you are at.

Welcome, and let us know of your thoughts. :welcome:

                          Be well.

                          Neil
