How is this working for people

I'm coming off a pretty big bender. Still shaky. I have the vitamins on order, have the cd's, not sure about the topa, have taken campral before and am ambivalant.

I'm wondering who's doing everything in the program...and how does it compare to other programs you've tried. I've been to treatment two times before and am not a fan of the AA approach. Does all this stuff together really help decrease the craving?

Seems like there are a lot of pieces to this program....I'm not so good at following any type of program.

Yes, the program works! I personally don't take the Topa, but am actually re-evaluating the decision. The Kudzu helps with the cravings but, won't completely take them away. MWO works but, like anything else these supps are not magic beans. Take them in conjuction with listening to the CDs , reading the book and some type of exercise program. Walking works wonders I promise you! Today, I suggest you drink lots of water, read and post.
Sometimes I wonder...."Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me.

Yes, it works if you work it. The problem is staying motivated to work it.

eliz, Yes the program works! I've been on it since the end of August of this year. Started out doing everything except the CDs. Just couldn't seem to fit them into my schedule. Ordered the Topa..tried going the doctor route but got turned down, so ended up ordering them overseas. Tritrated up to 200mg, and have been there ever since (going on 3 months now). Pretty much have been abstinent, was going for moderation, but just lost the desire for alcohol. Will have a half glass of wine maybe once a week or once every two weeks. The first few sips are heavenly for the taste of it, then it hard to just finish the half of glass!! Its a wonder feeling. Don't know if it's due to the topa, or just the fact that my brain is cleared up from the alcohol, but I am staying on the Topa. Might try to tritrate down to 100mg just to see if I get rid of some of the tiredness, but otherwise no ill effects. I've stopped all of the supplements and am just on the Topa, and all is wonderful! Good luck to you in the program, it really works!

Would you mind sharing where you are ordering your Topa? The online Rx that I used to get Campral doesn't have Topa.

          Thanks!
Tomorrow I get to wake up and not feel guilty. :yay:

This program does work. For me, the best thing has been the drink tracker. Nothing opens your eyes more to your drinking than having to look at how much you actually consume.

I'm doing everything in the program. I was drinking about 1/2 bottle of wine, plus several beers/rc's on week nights and much more on weekends. Now, I'm drinking on average about 2.5 drinks an evening. I had 5-6 the first day I started and 3.5 one other night (and had a headache the next day). I'm only taking 25 mg. of topa - which I ordered from River Pharmacy. I started the topa on 11/11 and the cd's and supps a few days before that. This board is also very supportive and helpful. I still have the itch to have a drink around the 5 pm hour, but it's not nearly as strong as before. I have the drink eventually, and one or so more, then I seem to lose interest. My dh asked if I was trying really hard or what, but he was impressed. He knows about everything I'm doing, but he doesn't understand how it can work so well. I'm really hoping I can stay at this low dose of topa as I have few side affects (tingly feet and hands, tired, thirsty and headache initially). In the past I tried to do Moderation Management, but really never moderated anything for more than a couple of days. I also attended AA once or twice many years ago, and have zero interest in that. I've tried no drinking during the week (drink slightly less, then get trashed to make up) - basically no success doing anything in the past. This program WORKS!

this has been my most effective month and I owe it to MWO. I'm only doing very little really: drink tracker, ordered and am taking kudzu from MWO, taking a really decent array of vitamins, exercising again (yay!) and enjoying the nice helpful community here. the biggest breakthrough for me happened at first and that was to see I was not alone in my fears and challenges.

                  eliz,
There are a few different online pharmacys you can try, the river one mentioned above, Aclepsa.com :: Generic Medications Superstore is mentioned in another thread, goldpharma.com, many have used inhousepharmacy.com, and vrdrug.com.

Riverpharmacy.com has been recommended by several folks. I am on 50 mg. of topa taking supps, have the book, have different set of hypno tapes ... I struggle with being in a new town and not having a good support network ... I get so lonely.

I started the entire programme 7 days ago and have found it great. First time in I don't know how long I have been AF !!!!. It really does work but you have to make it work it is no miricle you have to work at it but the benefits are amazing. I have a very supportive doctor so getting topa was no probs and for me it is the key I think as I have no desire to drink at all. Give it a go, nothing ventured nothing gained!! Hang in there Kim
Yesterday I dared to struggle. Today I dare to win!!

                        Yes it Works

                        :welcome: Hello Eliz
Yes this program/site WORKS! I tried in clinic treatment and AA, did'nt work for me. Felt alot like I was being brainwashed. So I finally found this site ! But like anything you have to want to quit or moderate your drinking whatever your goal is. I have been here for two months now and I am on the Kudzu and the Topamax and ordered the book. The Topa and Kudzu definately helped my drink craving, I was drinking almost 7 days a week and now am down to two days a week and alot less. I feel ALOT better! Like a thick fog has left my brain .
The support from the other people here who all share our addiction really helps me, they all have been great to respond to eamils and I follow the threads. The site has been a LIFE SAVER for me
Good Luck with it....You can do it.....One day at a time

How is this working for people

                          Hello Eliz

I am quite new here, but I have tried AA ( it isn't for me ) and contemplated going on courses that would cost several ( 6k ) GBP.
But I have the CD's and most of the supps. I find that thiamine and magnesium has helped with my energy as well as lecithin and chromium and the Kudzu and L-Glut helps, although willpower is a big factor.
I rattle, with the amount of pills I take !!!( also Omega 3 and Primrose Oil).

Also I have found ( thanks to my mothers visit ) that taking a good long walk helps you to sleep through the night, something that hasn't happened in a long while.

I think that being able to thrash out problems anonymously helps emmensely. Just to get things off your chest , or to read other peoples' funny posts.

I think we are all in the same boat to some degree, so it helps knowing you are not in it for the long haul alone.

It helps me to think that anyway. X

Everyone is here for one another. Keep in touch.

                          Cait X
