Thanks for the support - this website is a really big help. I have thrown out the left over wine, been to the gym, drunk 3 cups of tea and 4 glasses water so far - looking forward to bed, but it is only halfway thru the afternoon, and so much catch up after a week off work. I will succeed!!!

Hay Molly, yep lots of weight to loose, i have tried so many different things Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, I even used to try to make myself throw up, but wasnt able to...lol. So I am having the suurgery where they put a band around the neck of your stomach & make it the size of a tennis ball (?). its interesting as you have to see a psychologist as well, to make sure you are ready to make such major changes in you life, afterwards you can only eat small meals, lots of protein & veges, light on the carbs, the only downer is soda water is a no go. :-( Even thought the situation with my dad is not great, he is the one who is pushing me to get it & he & my mum are paying for it untill I can pay them back.

Hope the surgery goes well, Witchy. Yesterday, Christchurch had a series of aftershocks one after the other, which set some people reeling. Hopefully, it will all be quiet for you. Anyway I'd rather be in the South Island than the North at the moment with all the rain and floods they're having up there.
I didn't really make it through April - lost the mojo and blundered on without my plan in place. Back on board now and aiming for 90 days. Really aiming for forever, but shhh.
I had a weird guilt induced dream in the early hours of this morning as I was just drifting between awake and asleep. I dreamt I had just driven my car while intoxicated and as I got out I collapsed over the bonnet and couldn't move. Out of the corner of my eye I could see a police car stop. I had the keys in my hand and there was no way I could deny I had been driving. It felt so real I thought it was actually happening, and was relieved to wake up safe in bed. Maybe it was also brought on by the fact that I got a speed camera ticket a couple of weeks ago and can't find it.

Hello April Gang!
Molly, I am happy to hear you and your husband worked through issues after awhile. I hope that will be the situation in my case. I think we will both be going through some adjustment for awhile now that I'm actually participating in this relationship with a clear head!
Witchy, I wish you the best with your surgery! That is a big step, I am glad you and your family are positive about it. Sounds like you have a good support system, that's great.
Dancing and Scottish - great to hear from you! Have a wonderful AF evening all!

Scottish and dancing I hope last night was a better one for you both, keep going you are doing so well and will reach your goals this time, I am sure.
Wishing everyone a lovely AF Wednesday.

Hello Gang,
Not too many posts here today! Just thought I'd check in. I have been having thoughts of AL almost every day since day 20. I'm really getting sick of it. It hasn't been HORRIBLE, but I really thought they would lessen, not get worse! Last night I even dreamed my husband was handing me a glass of wine and saying "oh you can have just one"...it's ridiculous!
Oh well, I'm now in stubborn mode -- and I can outlast almost anything when I get my head in that space. So, we'll see who wins this battle!
Hope you all have a fantastic AF day.

Hi mylife, I hve been having a few extra thoughts in the last couple of days, and I am on nearly on day 25, perhaps if it just 'that' part of the process for the brain? don't know but stick with it, be stubborn and hopefully it will pass soon.
Wishing you a lovely AF day and no AL thoughts this evening.

Thanks DSLR!
Let's hang in there and get this done together! You're right, maybe it's our brains saying "okay, you've had your fun, now let's get back to that wine".... Lol!
Wishing you a lovely AF day/evening as well!

Last time I approached 30 days I got into that headspace too. I think you feel so much better, but you're also kind of over the excited phase and start to feel like maybe you're missing out again. However, you have the strength at that stage to say no to that first drink if you want to. It's a decision, not an inevitable thing.

Hi Gang,
Dancing & MyLife, I think your right, I think once the initial high from being sober wears off, you kinda go "ok well what am I going to do now" I guess this is were we have to come up with a plan for changing our lives & thoughts patterns. Its not about just not drinking, its about correcting behaviors that lead us to drinking in the 1st place. I to have had those dreams were your drinking, I have even had dreams were I drank a bottle of wine then got in my car, something I would have never done, I once rang a taxi to take me the the super market, about a kilometer down the road I live on to get more AL, rather that drive for 2 mins after I had started drinking. they are awfull dreams.
I dont know if any of you have read any of Dogggirl or Rubywillows threads, they are amazing examples of women that have done just what we need to do, changed their mindset, I know that if I cant do that for myself, then I wont get anyware,. I need to learn how to actually live my life without AL, I need to get out & do things, find a hobby that makes me happy, & join a group so I have some social interaction in my life. things that being so overweight have made me isolate myself fro, another reason to look forward to the surgery, I have decided that come this christmas I am joining either a ballroom dancing class or an ice skating class.
Anyway, remember its a process, one step after another, we can do it!!!

It never ceases to amaze me as to how much we have similar struggles at similar times. There are a few of us struggling at day 20 - I fell on day 21, the rest of you learn from my mistake - it did not work!! There is so much strength in the posts - you can do it! have a great AF night tonight...you al can do it, and then help me do it too!“The only courage you will ever need is the courage to live the life you want"

Hi everyone,
Well done everyone who has a tougher time of it of late, I hope last night was a bit easier? I got excited watching the final of Masterchef last night (I don't get out much!) and really wanted a glass of wine to celebrate with the winner! so odd, and a good reminder for me of how easy it is to 'justify' it to yourself, for no other reason than watching a TV show. Fortunately the little shop was well and truely closed, so a glass of lemon water did the trick instead and woke up this morning having lost another 2lbs, so REALLY pleased!
I think today will see the last of the sun for a few days here, so got to make the most of it. Unfortunately to busy today with stuff to get out with the camera I think, but we are due a storm on Saturday, possibly! and that is usually good for great clouds, but if not the garden needs the rain anyway, never thought I would say that in April!
Wishing everyone a great AF Thursday and hope the urges ease off and stay off for all of us today!!

Morning fellow travellers!! Lots of temptations but lots of success - nice one all! DS I loved the Masterchef final - their food was mindblowing - my mouth was literally watering watching it - funny that you say it I didn't once think of booze during it - and in my former 'life' food and drink were inextricably linked so maybe the disconnection really does happen. Witchy, sounds like you've really looked into the op. and all, keep us updated, does it mean you have it forever or just until you lose the weight? Have a lovely Thursday all and will check in later after work

Molly, the op that I am having isdone laproscopically, so its minimally invasice & back at work 2-3 days later, it is an inflatable band, that can be adjusted via a shunt, that can be filled with saline to make it tighter ( or saline taken out if it to make it a bit looser, as far as I know its permanent (it can be removed if necessary) I have an appointment with the surgeon & psychologist & nutritionist the 10 & 11th of next month, so I will find out all the details then. I am slowly compiling a list of questions.
For any fellow Kiwis out there, go to Countdown supermarket & see if the have "Soul" in the drinks isle, should be next to the soda water's, its a 4 pack of VIRGIN Cosmo's, so yummy. I have had a nice day today, went & got a hair cut, so needed it, havent had my hair done for about 5months or more, you should have seen how much hair there was on th floor, it feels so good now, so light & healthy. Masterchef is one of my favorite cooking shows, along with anything Gordon Ramsay does.
I have been getting back into meditating again, which I am enjoying. it helps still all the chatter in my mind.
I find it helpfull to repeat an AF afirmation while doing slow breating asi go to sleep, I am hoping it will slowly seep into my brain that AL is nothng but poison with flavoring.
I am off to have a look around the boards, will catch you guys later.
Stay strong & be well.

Hello April!
I don't think we get masterchef here. At least I haven't seen it!
DSLR - last night was a bit easier, or maybe I was just preoccupied, but the cravings were somewhat less! I wish I would lose weight! I can't seem to drop a pound this time. Okay, I know I'm eating loads of food...so I guess I could try cutting down a bit!
Molly, great to hear from you. And it's nice to know that those AL associations will go away eventually!
Witchy - yes please keep us posted on your surgery! It sounds very exciting and like a positive step.
Have a great day guys!
