    Kidney/Liver Pain

I haven't posted in quite awhile but have still been lurking. I think/know I am at my worst right now. I have continued to drink and drink one of the big bottles of wine a night. I get nothing done on weekends. I have the best intention of cleaning house, doing laundry etc...but instead spend two days drinking, sleeping, drinking more, sleeping, etc... I've had to call in late to work the last two Mondays. It's sick. But still I drink. Now I am having pain in my lower back, on the right side. When I lay down on my back it feels like that side is swollen. Add that to pains I've been getting for awhile in my liver. No sharp pains just dule aches. And still I don't stop. I'm only 27. I'm scared I've done permenant damage. But I still don't stop. I'm scared and lost.

    Hi Jewels!!

    Thankfuly you're very young girl!!!
So, your body will recover very fast when you'll stop AL..
Our body is our faithful servant until we totally don't ignore him..
You have to stop, clean your body for some days and go to the doctor...I have mild problems with my kidney and it was one of the reasons to quit drinking..

Stay on this site and don't disappear!!!:l:l

Jewles, I am no Doctor, but it does sound like that something is wrong and as Audrey says you really must, for your own sake, go to the Doctor, perhaps even before you stop incase stopping suddenly would also cause another problem? I don't know perhaps others have more experience on this?

Please Jewles, read as many threads as you can on here and perhaps post in Newbie Nest where the senior members and others can help you through this.

It is a frightening thought not drinking, trust me I know, but if I can do it and I am 46 and REALLY should know better, then you can, you are young and your body will recover, please draw strength from the people in this community that have tackeled this head on and done it, we are all here for you:groupluv:

Yes Jewels, I agree with what DSLR says - you must be careful and go and see a doctor. Luckily you are young and your liver is suppose to recover but don't know of kidneys. a Lot of water to wash youre kidneys and dark berry juices. I'm on day 41 AF en one of the most imported reasons why I stopped is because of problems with my liver and kidneys. I knew if I go on I would die... I'm 53. Lucky not a sickly person but Iwere hammering and neclect my body.

Hi Jewels, the good news is that is seems that you understand that your behaviour has to stop, and that you understand you are harming your body. This is a good first step. In addition, you are writing about these issues, this is great. It does sound like you may no longer have power over your alcohol use.

You would be amazed at how the body can repair itself if the poison is no longer going in. As soon as I stopped drinking, my stomach pains went away. It may be time for you to take a month or so off from drinking, so you can reflect on your relationship with alcohol. You have received some sound advice above as well.

          You can do it,

            Jewels - sending you a big :l

I agree with Hill - I bet you will be surprised at what a difference 30 days can make! Please stick around and lean on us when you need to. Life is so much better with AL!

OH Jewels, I can sure feel your pain and distress :-( I am in the same boat as you but I don't have any of those pains you mention. If you are anything like me, you are telling yourself to hell with it, I've already ruined my health. may as well keep drinking. And you are probably too scared and ashamed to see a doctor but I would echo the thoughts of the others here because you are so young! The body is so resilient it is never too late. The other thing I wanted to mention was do you have anyone you can confide in, personally or professionally? I have been seeing an addictions therapist for awhile now and she has really helped turn my thinking around so that at least I don't beat myself up anymore. That fact alone has been such a relief and gotten me able to be more objective about what I need to be doing to take care of myself. I hope you are okay and please do not give up hope!

Jewels, just start by taking a day off from AL. Just tell yourself you need a day off and take it from there.

Please keep reading and posting. You can do this -- many others have and so can you. :l:l

I can relate to the pain your feeling jewels.
I will have been sober 7 weeks Sunday, and recently the pains in my lower back have returned. It is at there worst late at night, and I find driving triggers the pain too.
I am seeing my doctor, but have to wait till may 24th as he is away, and I don't really want to tell a doctor I don't know.
All the best for tdy and the future.
