    A Glimmer of Hope?

    Hi Wanderbird!

I dont normally stray to far from the Undies thread but just thought I'd send you all the best for tonight and the days to come. No real advice as I am so new to this too.

Hope you enjoy the MWO book, it started a change in my thinking and my life.

yes, it definitely is a global problem!!

Wow - I'm really interested that they have kudzu - I've been told by so many people that it is a banned import!!! Think I'll go and get myself some!!!

That is a sad about your Dr ..... it is so hard to find ones that deal constructively with the issue and try to help. My Dr is fabulous too, and it has been great to be able to talk to her about stuff.

Enjoy your dinner! I'm heading off for a couple of hours, but enjoy your first sober night and just think how fabulous and good about yourself you will feel in the morning!

Sorry, confused now - do you mean that is what you need but buying it offshore? Is it the right one?

no - I buy it at the health food shop across the street from work ..... and the naturopath there (along with several others!) told me that you cant get it in NZ

                Gday lovelies,

I have just read with interest that bit about Champix. Missy are doctors prescribing to curb alcohol cravings?

Saff - ask me this question again when you get back on-line on Tuesday!!!

But short answer is that in NZ is is not "approved" for that use, but because of the way it works (ie; on the dopamine receptor cells) there appears to be no reason why it shouldn't (theoreticall at least) work in relation to just about any sort of addiction. It doesn't deal with physical dependency - but does reduce cravings.

                        Morning Miss

Your message made me smile. I DO feel pleased with myself! One small step achieved. I had a great sleep, for the first time in many months, and no hangover!!

Still a bit tired, but thats to be expected - I am journaling all this which will help keep me on track
I have a busy day ahead, clearing out rooms so the painter can start early tomorrow
This evening I have to go to a function - and thats the only time I don't drink - 1 know that with one glass I am a goner, so don't find it difficult to turn it down, lest I shame myself in public, and there is the 1 hour drive....

Will check in later - bless you all- I feel like I have a secure lifeline

                          A Glimmer of Hope?

I have just realised what a big deal it is for me to go out in the evening - I am getting ready for a 5pm function and this is the FIRST time in....5? 10? years that I have done so. Always, AL came first I think there will be a point after a time of sobriety that I get hit with a profound grief about how life has been, what I have lost, and what it has cost socially, emotionaly, spiritualy....etc
But for right now, it is a little bit exciting, and a little bit anxiety-provoking to take off my cloak of isolation and step out the door,.....

Hi Birdy - your post made me smile. And yes, there is a whole new nocturnal world out there! Worry about the down-the-track stuff, well, down the track.

                              A Glimmer of Hope?

I DID IT!! I didn't stay long, but I did it. My social skills have slipped heaps, but I did chat to a few peoplem and most important I honoured the invitation - I didn't let someone down. AND I didn't drink
I was so excited to be going to see some people. The night sky, the stars were amazing as I drove home, I havn't seen them (that I can recall) in years.
Had a great sleep, up early, busy day with the house getting renovated. It has gotten to be really grotty - neglected. Have thrown out heaps of junk in the past few days, cleaned like mad. Out with the old to make room for the new
Tawny, good advice, one day at a time....
