My First day
:welcome: Hadenough,
Great name! I totally relate to not wanting to blackout and looking the fool. Its just not worth it. There is a moderation area in the forum where people have success supporting each other in controlling their drinking. I totally respect it, and use to wish I could do it, but it's just too hard for me. Once I get going It's too hard for me to stop and I started blacking out and continuing to drink which obviously was just getting too dangerous. When I came here to MWO it was recommended I do a 30 day Alcohol free stint. It's a good way to figure out what you need to do to get control of your life again.
Best of luck to you recovering from your binge... whew! I remember those days hard yards. :h

:welcome: Hadenough,
Top advice on the trying AF for 30 days, just take it a day at a time. The tool box here is full of amazing tips on how to quit and stay AF, sorry not sure on how to post links, I am sure some one will post it here soon.
Every one here have all been on day1, we are all here to support each other, its an amazing awesome site. Check out the newbies nest too.
Keep checking in and let us know how your doing, we've all been there and utterly understand what your going through.
Keep strongI can not alter the direction of the wind,

My First day
Good on you for realizing you want/need to do something. Yesterday was also my 1st AF day for a bit. I wonder though once we reach the black out stage and being hammered on a regular basis if we can ever return to the days of 'controlled drinking'. From what I've been reading this is part of denial. Wanting to believe that we can still drink and thinking somehow we will figure it out. After years of on and off ~mostly on~ the AL I am going to have to realize I can not deny my denial. Life is indeed a journey and I want to make mine more enjoyable of a trip rather than an arduous assault beginning each morning with a stone around my neck. Success to you and guard yourself against denial. ~~~Today will be my 2nd AF day, hopefully just the start of many. My goal right now is 30 days ODAT but must admit I wish I could say I would just put down the drink and never pick it up again. Just not a realistic goal yet. I am in the process of writing out my Initial plan. Take care and hope to be reading of your progress.

My First day
Hi Hadenough,
Welcome to MWO, this is a good place with lots of info & support.
If you haven't already download & read the MWO book in the Health store here. It's a good place to get started.
I initially want to learn to drink moderately as well when I first arrived here. But as I approached my 30 AF day goal, I had to be honest with myself. For me, I just knew moderate drinking would not be possible again. You will know the answer too when you do some AF time
Wishing you the best!

My First day
Hi honey
I can only agree with the others, take it slowly and ODAT, once you've gotten some AF time you'll find you;ll be able to think clearer about what you want. 30 days worked out to be a good starting point for me, it seemed huge at first but after the first few days it became easier, stay close to the site, read and ask, visit the nest and keep distracted especially around trigger times oh and the toolbox is a must.
Wishing you the best :lWHAT CAN I SAY? I DON'T WANT TO PLAY ANYMORE..
Just taking it day by day.......

Best of Luck to you both. and everyone else trying to lay off the booze.
Its not easy, but the rewards of staying AF for a while will come within a few days.
Great nights sleep, added wealth, feeling healthy and good about yourself, more energy, you will feel better and better each day.
Hope all are well

Welcome HadEnough! You have come to the right place! Step right up and join in where you feel comfortable! We have all been through Day one and I will admit it is the toughest, but you have to start somewhere. I am at Day 6 so I'm not too far ahead of you. You will feel like a different person in a week, trust me. Good luck to you and as others have said...take it one day, or even one hour at a time my friend!Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.
BE HAPPY...BE CONNECTED...BE HEALTHY! :h
