Everyone who has been sober 30 days or more PLEASE POST ON THIS THREAD
Thanks for posting. I am hoping to see hundreds of posts, thousands, even! I am not criticizing at all, but need to know the efficacy of this program. It seems to me that so many are trying and failing. There has to be something more than just saying, I can do it and so can you.

hi wanna, have you read the posts in this thread? https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html
they can be helpfull. you dont tend to hear the successfull scream out to be heard, the ppeople who need help are often the most vocal, which is good.
but to answer your question, I have 604 days sober under my belt this is my first REAL attempt at soberity (sp) in 20 yrs, so yes this place can help you but most comes from within.
Keep trying.

I have done 3 months and a bit
You need a lot of support though, either from friends or a group or the internet
I'm pretty strong willed but I found it hard and still do
I buy myself treats at little milestones
And this week I am seeking out a support group in order to make me feel like I'm not doing this on my own
Hope this helpsI have a drink problem, I have been AF since 15 March 2011 and I am working hard to stay that way
They don't call me Pingu Purple Pants for nothing....

Everyone who has been sober 30 days or more PLEASE POST ON THIS THREAD
I found this site the day that I decided to give up AL. I was sick of the cycle, sick of SO MANY things about/due to AL. I found this site and was not sure what I was looking for. Since finding it I have used it as place to post my feelings, and my journey. I have used this as a place to make myself accountable for my actions, and to learn and remind myself of what I want to be free of. I had no intention of getting this many AF days in a row under my belt on the first go with this site. I fully expected myself to have had a few tries under my belt by now. Only Being here has helped me that much, that what I needed most, I found here. I take supplements, but have not used meds. Everyone has their OWN JOURNEY. MIne is far from over and I don't know what lies down the road. I don't know what my forever goals are, but I know I need this AF life for now, possibly forever. I can not undo the damage I've already done, but I can change the things I do now that I have a better grip. I don't know if this helps. I just know it is different for everyone. The support here is tremendous and unconditional, and that is what I have needed and taken the most.

Hi Wanna,
I have been completely sober for almost 3 years now, and the last time I was drunk was May 31, 2008.
This program worked for me. I also quit smoking at the same time. I didn't use any meds, but pretty much everything else.
It was pretty difficult at first, because my hubby and I were drinking buddies, but we're still together--although our relationship is not the same.
I love my af life. The thought of another hangover makes me sick. No more guilt and remorse and I am the role model my 2 teenage sons deserve.
I don't post a lot anymore, I just don't have time, maybe that is selfish of me--most that get sober leave the forum though. If you haven't checked out the monthly abstinence forum you should.
I would suggest a goal of 30 days, and then 60 days and then go for 90 days and you won't believe how much happier you are!_______________

Hi WBF I am 97 days AL free and loving it. I hear your concerns but I think that in reality there is no one magic way to get sober. Believe me after drinking til I passed out every night and being drunk from Friday night til Sunday night every weekend I was desperate for anything to fix this. I tried counseling, AA, tons of self help books, Naltrexone and begging and pleading with God to fix me. I joined this site over a year ago and bought the book, supps and CD's but I was still wasn't able to stop. I did read the posts here everyday and reached for help from the members over that time but it wasn't until this March that I decided no matter what I was done drinking. I went to SMART recovery meetings, read and posted here and made a 150% commitment to myself that I would never drink again no matter what.
I can not speak for anyone else but in my opinion there is no one magic way to quit drinking. First and most importantly you have to be totally committed to doing whatever it takes to not pick up the drink. There are so many ways and methods to help and I think the recipe is different for each person.
I hope this helps.AL free since March 17th 2011...loving this life. No drinking no matter what.
Hi my name is Lori and i am so happy to be here.

Hi wanna be free. I have been sober now for 1,126 days. I am so glad I struggled to get free of alcohol. My life was going down the toilet fast for the last years of my drinking. I have a new lease on life now. I'm finding myself for the first time in my adult life.
Go for it. If I can do it, and these other people can do it, you can do it too.

Awesome posts! Please keep them coming. I come from a background of pharmaceuticals, and the key to any drug or program is its efficacy - which means does it work? Is the efficacy of this program 50%, 75% 90%? I know it is different for everyone, but I wanted to see a whole string of success stories in a row! These posts of success are important, and I will continue to read. Thank you!
