Everyone who has been sober 30 days or more PLEASE POST ON THIS THREAD

I asked about Roberta Jewell on one of the moderation threads, and someone said that she is still sober, but went AF because her husband was ill and was not allowed to drink. I have no idea where that information came from, or whether it's true or up-to-date.

As frustrating as it sounds when people keep lapsing, each persons journey is different. It's a mental issue for many. You get to a certain stage of being AF and then think that you might be able to drink and control it, but often can't. Sometimes people have to find that out for themselves and I don't regard that as a failure, but a learning experience. I've done 30 days AF. I have had a go at moderating with anxious success. I have decided that AF feels better and I know that I can never drink at home alone again, so I am now AF again.

I think the MWO programme works, but people don't always follow it to the letter with the meds, supplements, CDs etc so it's not always as easy as it sounds in the book. The support and information on the webite is an important tool.

      Hi Wanna
I am almost 18 months AF after a drinking career of 30 years,
I was depressed, suffering from anxiety attacks and had increasing thoughts of suicide.
Then one night by accident I found this site! It changed my entire life and today I'm a very happy, fit, healthy girl with an unbelievable zest for life!

I didn't follow the MWO plan but a mixed plan I made up myself taking a variety of ideas from many different sources. Much of the advice I followed came from other members of MWO and I can honestly say this place saved my life. For me having a plan to follow was absolutely vital and I wrote down and was clear on all the issues I'd have to face in the initial period. I won't pretend it was easy but it was certainly worth it, it's an amazing journey of self discovery and I wouldnt have missed it for the world.

As Sheri said, never ever ever give up!
"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

These are the kinds of posts those of us who are new need to see. I have had a few missteps in the short time I have been going AF - not bad, but enough to know that I don't want to go back to the way I was drinking. I really love hearing the short summaries from those who are really racking up the days AF. Thanks for taking the time to post.

          Hi Wanna,

The MWO program works just fine provided you are commited & do the work!
I've been sober for 818 days. I read the MWO book, made a plan using the ideas in the Tool Box & used the Hypno CDs as directed. Changing thinking, habits, eating well & exercise are all part of an effective program. I did not use any Rx drugs.

Its been 51 days for me.

Had a bottoming out event....told myself I needed to quit, for a variety of reasons.

I have been drinking to excess for the past 20 some odd years. Like others, I am eating better, staying busy, and changing my old habits.

Its been kind of a roller coaster....some days easy..........some days not so easy.

I just tell myself, Id rather not touch AL, and take another ride to the hospital.

So far, Ive only used these boards, my wife, and my willpower, and so far so good.

You can do it, Im not any stronger than anyone else.......stay strong, you will be much happier!

Thanks WBF for starting this thread. It really helps me to stay focused when I read all the success stories. It is amazing how each one of us is succeeding by doing it our own way. Its just goes to show that there is no one way to get sober and if you keep trying you will find bits and pieces that once put all together will help you find your way out of this hell.

Congrats to all of you and i hope each one of you know how much you have helped so many people to find a new life. I hope you all realize that you are truly angels to me and the other posters here who really on your successes to build our new futures.

Pretty excited about the blood pressure lowering impact that you experienced. I did not put that one together with drinking. Each one of these posts have really given me some stick to itiveness. Goodnight!
