I asked about Roberta Jewell on one of the moderation threads, and someone said that she is still sober, but went AF because her husband was ill and was not allowed to drink. I have no idea where that information came from, or whether it's true or up-to-date.
As frustrating as it sounds when people keep lapsing, each persons journey is different. It's a mental issue for many. You get to a certain stage of being AF and then think that you might be able to drink and control it, but often can't. Sometimes people have to find that out for themselves and I don't regard that as a failure, but a learning experience. I've done 30 days AF. I have had a go at moderating with anxious success. I have decided that AF feels better and I know that I can never drink at home alone again, so I am now AF again.
I think the MWO programme works, but people don't always follow it to the letter with the meds, supplements, CDs etc so it's not always as easy as it sounds in the book. The support and information on the webite is an important tool.
