    It's a start but I know it won't be easy

    My wife and I are both in need of addressing the problems we have through alcohol and today we found this site, thank god. It seems from the various posts and testimonials that it clearly works alongside some determination but whilst it will be easier for us as a couple to support each other it is also easier for us as a couple to lead each other astray too.....something we both excel at.

    We are here, we have the book downloaded and we admit we have problems and we want to change that so the start has at least taken place.

    Watch this space and all support is well received.

        Welcome to the board! I noticed in your post you said you and your wife are addressing problems with your drinking? My husband I too are quitting together. We both have addressed there are problems, and have decided to quit together! Power in numbers I say! We both came to the realization our relationship and our quality of life was going down fast. Now we just need to figure out what to do instead of getting drunk together. However we are looking forward to the healthy change!I wish you all the best in your and your wife's road to recovery!:welcome:

          My husband and I just quit drinking together as well...admittedly, he isn't quite as mis wired as I am around the alcohol, but it made it 100% for me to stop knowing that he was there with me..this is a great program and a great community of support.

                    Good for you! I think it is great you are doing it as a team. I confess I'm annoyed with my husband because he doens't want to admit that I have a problem. He may too (although he is not nearly as compulsive as I am) and he doesn't want to lose a drinking buddy.

                    I'm second day in, without the topamine and i notice a subtle difference already. I had three drinks last night as opposed to my usual six and I TRULY didn't feel my usual compulsion to slam them down and get a buzz. Hopefully the three drinks will whittle down to one or two.

                          Thanks all for the lovely, supportive messages. Nice to know we are not totally unique in our problems !!

                          Day 3 now, watched nearly all the DVD's from local shop and we are overdosing on clementines but then Vitamin C is better than C2H5OH
