    My Starting OUT

    Day 19 NF
    Day 18 AF

Nearly 3 weeks now ... With a clear clean mind I can say ... Whew - things can only get better from here. I MUST quit eating so much sugar! Or food for that matter! Any advice? I think I've switched addictions to food!
Put your hands over your heart - and tell yourself that you are going to guard this essence of who you are with everything. Alcohol opens us up to darkness and depression instantly. You choose love today. Guard it by keeping the poison out of your body. It IS poison.

      My Starting OUT

Rita, the food cravings have calmed down for me. I try to eat healthy stuff when I do eat, though, so at least the food isn't making me feel bad. You know, healthy snacks like nuts, celery with peanut butter. I'm a grazer, so those kinds of things have kept me away from the really trashy stuff. It does get better. A lot of people suggest protein. I get mine from things like the beans and nuts. I like parmesan cheese and just eat one big chunk a day. Seems to help me..........but I think the idea is to find things you like that aren't too junky.

Great job on staying sober on top of riding out the steroid issue!

Thanks Unwasted ... How long AF for you? (Thinking in relation of the food cravings!!) Congrats to you. I think I do better on a high protein diet - at least while I'm healing.

              My Starting OUT

Unwasted...I guarantee you will feel so proud of yourself for making it through this vacation without Al. It's a bit scary at first to navigate the situations and conditions that we once associated with getting drunk, but as so many wise ones here have advised....make a plan - a specific plan to get you through this challenge.

At the endless wedding celebrations I just attended, I knew there would be little moments that could provide an excuse for me to "just have one" if I wasnt prepared. For example, when the champagne began flowing before the toasts, I filled up my glass with water. I did have to make a big deal that I wasn't drinking....and I didn't have to face temptation and a weak moment.

You're at 11 days and counting....stay hydrated...fed and focused on how good you feel without that poison in your body.

Rita...my little FORMER smokin' gal....we be beating two addictions like we used to beat those nasty weeds....meaning with great vigor! L-Glut can do wonders for getting rid of the sweet tooth (and it also aids in healing our alcohol ravaged gut.) Unwasted is right about getting more protein into your system. You may also want to consider eating lentils. They're incredibly rich in protein...and are packed with fiber which will help even out your blood sugar. They're relatively inexpensive...easy to prepare and you can add spices or vegies for variety. Lentils are one of the best foods for helping us former drinkers restore sanity to the endocrine system that we have so horribly abused.

You're now more than halfway to that 30 day milestone...keep going!
              Sober for the Revolution!

                :bday1:roud:

My 30 Day Goal reached!! NF/AF for 30 days! What a :bang month it's been. I NEVER EVER EVER want to repeat this experience. I am shutting the door on that past life - locking it and never re-entering it.

I have a LONG ways to go - but I am better off today than I was a month ago. Every day is now building on a foundation that is firmly in place. I WILL NOT tear it down by giving into short term pleasures that have long term night meres attached! I'm moving forward, not looking back ....

                  My Starting OUT

Just saw your post as I was heading to bed but wanted to say congrats and :goodjob:

Thirty days is no mean feat and to go NF at the same time too although I can see your thinking, quitting smoking was easy once it clicked into place so I do wonder why quitting AL isn't the walk in the park the ciggies were.

Anyway well done and great job and yes you should be so proud of yourself:goodjob:
WHAT CAN I SAY? I DON'T WANT TO PLAY ANYMORE..

Just taking it day by day.......

I think the amino acids are starting to kick in .. feeling like things are starting to heal. Love the supplements. It's a lot of work to take so many things a day ... but it's worth it.
