Is this normal?
I am on Day 4, nearly Day 5 now (I can't sleep - one of many side effects of quitting), and I am surprised to find myself feeling low and depressed all day today. I honestly expected feelings of clear-headedness and energy, but instead I feel lethargic and bored.

Stallone, I quit for 30 days and am now on day 5 after trying to moderate many, many times. I think it's different for everyone, but just wanted you to know it definitely gets better. It takes time -- remember how long you've been drinking.
I am now sleeping better than ever, so hang in there.

Stallone,
Like Unwasted, i have quit before but it never completely "stuck." I think it may be that drinking becomes our entertainment, and without it we can be at a loss for how to fill the time. I often drank because I was bored, so I am trying to find ways to fill the time. Luckily I have the soul of a 12-year old boy in a 55 year old woman, so computer games are my salvation. Or the Wii. May go play a little Metroid now that I think about it.Good habits breed good habits; bad habits breed bad habits.

stallone,
Afters years of abusing AL we really can't expect to heal overnight can we?
Right now you are still clearing the poison out of your system. Drinks lots of water, take supplements, get some fresh air & exercise. You will find yourself feeling better very soon.
Try focusing on gratitude - be happy & proud of your nearly 5 AF days

Stallone -
I went through the same thing and was shocked and frustrated by the way I felt. I guess I thought that I would feel just great and have all this energy....instead, I was tired, down and felt like crap. I didn't go to the gym for the first 2 weeks. It's almost 30 days for me now and just the past couple of days I've started feeling better. My advice is like Lav said....drink plenty of water, etc..to get the toxins out. I also drank warm lemon water to help and took L-Glut (still am). I slept when I felt like it and didn't push myself. It didn't take 5 days for us (or 30) to get into this pit and I guess we can't crawl out that quickly eaither. I found tremendous support on this site........it's been a life saver. Best of luck to you!
