Ready to start again
hdb - thanks for the encouragement...Going well, went with my wife to buy groceries, and now watching a movie on TV. Taking it slowly, drinking a lot of water and iced tea.
My problem is that as soon as I start feeling better, I feel like I can handle it and dont have a drinking problem anymore. How wrong, I know.First attempt June 30 (42 days)

Ready to start again
Joe,
Arm yourself with a strong plan to ensure your success!
Make today your last Day 1
Use the ideas in the https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html to make yourself a good plan. Identify & address all of your drinking triggers ~ what will you be doing differently this time around? If you have the Hypno CDs use them & if not think about investing in the set. They really worked for me & a lot of others
Keep your eye on your goal, wishing you the best!

Kim and Lav - I made it throught day 1, in PJs already, and no alcohol in the house. I got cravings for sweets, so I let myself indulge in a little bit of chocolate. I'm have been trying to get on the paleo diet, so tomorrow I will try again. Alcohol is not part of the paleo diet, and I have been fooling myself, but that's going to stop.
Triggers are social events where alcohol is served and some friends who have a drinking problem as well. I will try my best to steer clear of these.First attempt June 30 (42 days)

hdb - Every morning last week I woke up telling myself there was no way in hell I would drink that day, mainly because of how I was feeling in the morning. By 2-3PM my mind was already convincing me that I was feeling better and how nice a glass of wine or two would make me feel with the stress of the workday, etc. Of course that glass or two would turn into a bottle and sometimes an extra tiny vodka bottle or two (easier to hide in the bathroom). This cycle continued all week and turned into binge drinking over labor day weekend.
I am so tired of this. This morning I'm telling myself there is no way in hell I'm drinking today (althought I didn't drink yesterday, still on a 2-day lingering hangover from Sunday). I will be tempted in the afternoon and must focus on not falling for it.
Will keep you all posted....First attempt June 30 (42 days)

Joemero & hdb,
I want to share a little secret with you.........
Where it comes to AL - we are never in control, that's just BS! I think we've all passed the point of being able to control AL some time ago.
What helped me out was to stop listening to that mind chatter. It's not OK to have just one or two or ten. The only way to get in control of AL is to not drink!!!!! Don't pick up that first drink!!!
It's perfectly OK to avoid social events & certain people for a while especially ones that focus on AL. It takes time to get stronger in your commitment & learn to say NO THANKS with conviction
You can do it today!

Hi Joemero, so glad you are keeping going I am ashamed to say that I messed up, I will be back with you tomorrow though.... please don't let my failing influenece you the wrong way, I have no idea why I have done it at all... because I can? kids back to school husband away?? its a horrid sneaky little voice that persuades you to fail. Pulling up my boot straps now and will be back with you tomorrow. Hi Lav, I am beginning to think that maybe that is true for me too but I don't want it to be ... but I guess no-one wants it to be that way. Well done Lav you are an inspiration

hdb - Don't worry, I have done that many times, the important thing is that you came back and posted. The times I've slipped I am too ashambed or arrogant (in my drunkeness) to come back. Look forward tomorrow, and try to stop drinking anymore today.
Changemylife - Thanks for chiming again...together we can pull through this. I am going to face my toughest triggers tonight and tomorrow as I begin feel healthier and better. My mind will trick me that I can handle a few, or deserve to relax...NO.First attempt June 30 (42 days)

Changing your thinking is a huge part of the process
Change your thoughts, change you behaviors & you are on the way to reaching your goals
Sounds simplistic I know but is definately not easy to do. The results are well worth the effort, you'll see! Think in terms of gratitude, it changes your perspective
You can do it too!!!!
