Quitting drinking and Cholesteral and BSugar

I have already found that my blood pressure dropped after only 3 weeks AF.

What kind of drops can I hope for regarding Cholesterol and Blood Sugar?

    Hiya TX...

That is marvelous! The body is amazing. You are already healing in more ways than you can imagine.

You can reasonably expect improvements in seeing your 'bad' Cholesterol level drop. As for Blood Sugar....are you high or low? I have started to monitor my BS and it is quite steady, which is a huge change from my drinking days when the readings were all over the place from dangerous lows to big spikes.

My doc is now working with me to get my levels back to perfection...which will take some time. Drinking REALLY screws up your pancreatic functions (among other things) and most of us end up with insulin problems as a result. I sure as hell do NOT want to end up with diabetes. I was certainly headed there on a fast track at the rate I was drinking. Now, I have a fighting chance at avoiding the big D....but it's going to take some repair work.

    Here are my "Doctor's Orders":

DIET (As in an healthy style of eating...not a weight loss program) Eat whole foods - organic if possible. Eat fish at least once a week. Avoid simple or quickly converted carbs/starches...i.e. potatoes...corn...carrots...bananas. Avoid all foods with gluten. Go light on dairy. Eat small snacks between meals ( I like raw almonds.) Don't go hungry.

EXERCISE everyday. I do a 30 minute walking routine almost every morning. I do a stroll at night with the dogs. I integrate activity throughout the day...parking far from the store...taking stairs at work...etc. I've finally seen the scale move since I quit drinking (and smoking) 2 months ago. I'm now down 10. Finally. Slower than I thought. Oh well. I'm not GAINING anymore...that's fo sho!

Supplements: I'm taking chromium picolinate and niacin specifically to help regulate BS levels. I'm also taking something called 'Pancreas' which is supposed to help heal that innard. I usually buy my supplements online at iherb.com If you're a new customer, there are generally coupon codes you can look up online for a small discount...$5 or so off the first order. Prices are reasonable and shipping is QUICK!

Keep piling up those AF days, Tx...days turn to weeks which turn to months which turn to years.

I'm so happy you're feeling better. And, you know what? It keeps getting better!
    Sober for the Revolution!

MY FBS runs between 111 and 115. I am not currently diabetic, and hoping going AF will keep me from it.

My Cholesterol is about 200, again borderline.
