New strategy.. well, the old one revamped, refined and ready

    Hiya all

I'm back in the fold for those who know me and feeling ready for action now..( I hope the wise ones on here, who have helped so much before, will accept me back?

I've tried and failed in one continent, tried and failed in another... now in another.... and its the third time lucky I hope.

Luck, I know, doesn't come into the equation but I have spent the last two days literally preparing for today..my mind, my body and my soul for what is to come...

And today is the day I am stopping AL and Cigarettes, one day at a time, one little foot in front of the other.

    My plan:

    * I have L-Glut a plenty plus some high quality supplements which I started a few days ago, so they are kicking in ( Liver detox, Hawaiian Spirilina, Probiotics 9, Marine calcium and CQ10- Omega 3, plus a chelated multi vitamin mineral ) Bach Flower Rescue Remedy for the inevitable bouts of tearfulness

    * Nicotine patches and gum for the nicotine withdrawal

    * Fresh Vegetables and fruit - lots of healthy food lying around, lemons and apple cider vinegar. A juicer I just bought.

    * Fresh Coconut Juice in the fridge

    * An emergency stash of mild sleeping pills, plus Bach Rescue Sleep Remedy

    * A Malaysian version of Xanax ( 5 pills only.. mmm better use wisely) for any out of order anxiety.

    * A full on day tomorrow - work and exercise = planned

    * A reward planned for next week with the money I will have saved from Al and Cigs ( hair done and pedicure)

    * A cool book to use as a journal ( cool pens too)

    * A clean apartment and clothes

    * A great literary classic to read (for when I can focus on words again)

    * A mind so determined and tired of self- serving excuses

    * This site and all its support

    * A healthy and still happy 6 year old ( won't be for much longer if I carry on this mad drinking = we will both end up to be dysfunctional children)

    * A Special admiration for all of you who are doing and fighting and continuing and motivating others with your patience and time and wisdom.

    * A hope that some new people will join me on the trip out of here and a feeling I may be able to help others in a way

Have I forgotten anything? Please tell me if I have.

mmm.. have to admit, the exercise thing is still a bit vague, a bit scared of that after my bad habits of drinking and smoking but i have no weight issues so should be fine right??

I would welcome any additions to my plan or ideas

Hey glad to be back!! And lets crack this monster and put her back in her cage and lock the door, make that a double.. lock.

    Take care
    Patrice

    Patrice,

What an absolutely cracking plan. Can't think of a thing to add, well perhaps printing it off and putting it several places where you can just glance up and it's right in front of you.

    Oh and checking in everyday.

Glad to have you back in the fold.

wow, Patrice - awesome! I think trying and trying again is an opportunity to learn and your great plan shows that...hopefuly you haven't left any loopholes for yourself... It's not failure if you learned something from it and you use it.

I know I learned from my last attempt and it has helped me to be much stronger this time. I want sobriety more and I know why I want it more.:goodjob:

Hi Patrice, may I ask why you think you failed at your previous attempts?

Awesome Patrice! I am right there with you. Day 5 for me, I feel great, not worried about my former scary "FRIDAY" no day can make me want to drink. I just feel so good without it...I'm gonna go for it....and I'm so happy to have people like you on this site that understand that you can try and fail but that does not mean you have to stop trying! And just because you drink does not mean you are moderating, it means you just haven't found "your way out" yet and your here cause your still looking!

You can do it! And you will love every minute!
You always succeed if you never stop trying.

                  Patrice,

Welcome back & you do have an awesome plan!
A little fresh air & exercise will only help increase your endorphins & make you feel better naturally. Even a brisk walk helps

Stick to your plan & let us know how you are doing!

                    Hi all

Thanks for your responses, I value this support immensely and as you can see it is part of my plan..
I'm starting day one with everything in place (mmm.. the apartment not as pristine as yesterday)

I'm feeling a bit less confident today. why? I think because this day has come and I need to go through it as day 1 again...

Supercrew, I think I have failed because I wanted to drink. Now I don't. And I need to be rigourously organized which I haven't been

I look forward to hearing from you all

Looks like a great plan Patrice!! You can do it. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one moment at a time as they say. One thing that helped me a lot was keeping a written list handy of "things to do" when those urges would strike. Sometimes the urges were mind numbing for me, and I couldn't think straight. So having a list I could easily grab, and just pick something, was really helpful.

                      YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

OMG!!! Now that is the mutha of all plans!!! Unless your a vegan, I would add a whey protein isolate. I found staying full helps with the cravings... just a suggestion, as I think you have everything else in the world covered off:goodjob:

                        Juicer... nice touch!

Wow, you are doing exactly what every recovered drinker has been advising us all. You have an amazing detailed plan and you really want this. You've got the tools and remember alcohol is the only drug we have to make excuses for not taking. Drug, I repeat. We are so much better off without it. All the best in your journey. I'll be routing for you.
