Intro and a needed change
Hi, my name is Denise. I'm only 24 years old and I cannot stop drinking. I am trying and do not know how to stop this! I know the ramifications of drinking as heavily as I do, but somehow I always find a way to justify it. I'm tired of this. I don't have anyone to talk to about it and feel nothing but loneliness. I'm here for advice, support and conversation. I can't stand living like this any longer.

Intro and a needed change
Welcome. Still working my way through. I have come along way since I joined in August. This is also the first place I bared my sole and secret.
I ordered the book, supp's and cd's and am giving abstinence a go on Jan 1st.
Take Care and keep talking."Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

Intro and a needed change
Welcome,
You've found the right place to help you with your drinking problem. You've made the first big step towards what you want to do... abstain or quit.
Have a read of the various posts, and probably you'll see your story in most of them.
I'm now finding justifications not to drink, and after many years, am starting to "depower" the power I once gave to alcohol.
Have you ordered the book and cd's yet?
You're not alone, and there are lots of people to help you and support you.
See you in the chat room some time.
Have a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Raghnall.

Intro and a needed change
this disease is a really tough one to kick for some people
i don't want to scare you off from taking action to heal yourself but as the song goes,"it ain't easy"
the rewards are great and you will find that your loneliness will start to go away as you feel more confident in life and get more involved with people rather than the bottle
keep pluging away and things will work out,you are young enough that you can deal with this and you haven't done too much damage.
Merry Christmas and all the best to you
we will talk more in the new year so please come to this board and post and read

I will check out that book! Thank you for the tips and support. It is nice to meet all of you and hope for the best for all of us.
I am tired of saying "No more, I'm done with this", and then falling back into it a few days later. It will help to have people to talk to that are experiencing the same difficulties. I feel odd talking to friends of mine about this because I get the impression that they would not understand. That they would say just stop drinking. The cravings are the worst. And then my brain will get upity convincing myself that I can stop with just one. That is rarely the case.
Thanks again.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Happy holidays.
Denise

yes that's the hard part dealing with the cravings
the cravings can be dealt with.a lot of the posts on this board have to do with dealing with and slowly eliminating the cravings.
the nutritional supp,l-glutamine,kudzu and hypno cd's all play a vital part in reducing cravings.
give it a try and you will be pleasantly surprised

I have to agree that Allen Carr's book is excellent. puts things in a different perpsective. just remember that there is no one way to deal with this problem and you have to find your own way. There are also drugs avialable through your doctor that can help enormously, please go and see you doctor and tell him/her exaclty what's happening in you life.
Life gets so much easier when you don't drink. And once you start, it gets so much easier. get lots of support for the fiirst week.
You can do this.
Flip:welcome:It always seems impossible until it's done....

Intro and a needed change
Today was suprisingly difficult even though yesterday was wonderful. It seemed that my body thought that it deserved to celebrate a day without drinking. Such a strange symptom. Do any of you experience that same feeling?
I've been researching herbal treatments. I have had great success treating my mom's parkinson's in such a fashion that I firmly believe that this can and will help. I've been studying the use of herbs in conjunction with modern medicine for about 3 years now and it has proven to be a fruitful venture. I will let you know what I find out.
