An older drunk back on day one. Who's with me?

Good plan d.b. and congrats for not caving this afternoon. I have always found days 4 and 5 to be very difficult. It's gonna get better soon.

RC- I posted on your thread. Don't feel bad about all that !

I am only one drink away from never being sober again.

      Morning all!

RC, I can only reiterate what's already been said, well done for coming straight back. At least you know now. 7 weeks is awesome and that can't be taken away from you. You'll be back there before you know it if your first run is anything to go by

DB - great job my friend - that was a real victory. Completely understand how you were triggered but you did it, yay!

Hi Nora, SL, Starfish & all - wishing you a sober hump day

You’ll be back where you want to be soon I’m sure. I always love to read your posts – they’re a great source of inspiration & strength.
Thanks Free Hi and :l You're right. It's progress from where I once was for sure. But what was not progress was the six nights in a row of heavy drinking I had recently Which both reminded me of my increasing loss of control and that if I am drinking there're SO OFTEN excuses to drink in my life - meaning about four of those were social occasions.

So, especially given it's the party season, it's either resign myself to a couple of months of heavy boozing - or more on-off relapsing - and all that comes with that or try to buckle down again.

RC, I'm sorry you had a fall but here's a hand and a :l ... I hope you can get back up on the wagon now with me. We've all been there far too often but you don't have to stay there my dear. Any thoughts what triggered it? I will go look for your thread.

Dogwood - Good to see you and WELL DONE for fighting the urges. You are sounding so good and drinking would have just made you feel crap - you know it. You too MBY!

Hi Nora! Hi Scottish! Hi G! Hi all!

          Dropping in to say hello.

Glad that we all are here to support each other. :h

Dogwood - you're doing great with thinking it all the way thru. That's hard to do sometimes. Getting myself home and into pj's means I'm not going to the store. Some days it is REALLY hard to go straight home after work.

Lilly - I know what you mean. I think that I'm making good progress with cutting back and then I'll have several BAD days in a row. Working hard to keep the bad days at bay.

We are doing this - a day at a time. :h

RunningC and DogwoodB - both of you so strong in your own ways. Whether it's getting right back in the fight, or avoiding a slip, both take a lot of mental toughness. Good for you!

Got through last night without much trouble, and this morning dusted off the treadmill and actually used it! That says a lot for me about where my head is at, and it's a good place. Day 3 is sometimes an easy day for me to slip, so I plan to work as hard as I need to to get past it successfully.

Great Job DB, what is it about being home alone that we want to drink. I do the same thing and wonder who I think I am fooling. Even if no one knows that I got wasted... I will know and I will have let myself down yet again. BTW I am cooking for thanksgiving and am curious. is AF wine really AF?

Hey DB - driving home, especially to an empty house is a huge trigger for me - I am now eating a bag of gummy bears every day on way home - one vice for another, but think this one is better and it is working for me, will have to wean myslef off those soon, but for now whatever works
Hi to all checking in, hope today is going well for you all - mine is getting going and hopefully will be another good one!

I was doing the same thing. Eating something sweet on my way home. I guess I should just take some l-glutamine and not eat all those empty calories. :H Oh what's the fun in that?

L - glut just didn't do anything for me!! I do find it interesting that it is gummys that are working now - they are garbage, absolute rubbish that I would never normally eat, but whatever works???

SL, I find this so funny. I had to bail my husband out of jail today(nothing crazy just unpaid tickets) and it took all day so I didn't get any homework done for tomorrow. then I went to work. On my way home I bought a bag of gummy bears and felt better. I came to this site to check in and you had posted about eating gummies. I had to laugh bc you are right whatever works.
