Good Morning Everyone!
Welcome back Twitch...I remember you from back in the day. Pull up a seat and join us, everyone is welcome here!
12 days Fag Free....yay! The mornings and right after work are still the hardest...I forget that I don't have my smoke to look forward to... The good thing is I'm not using as much mouthwash or bodyspray to "cover up" anymore!
Well Mr. G, how are you today...what's your plan for this weekend? We need an update on Spinach Lady please!
Will check in later peeps, everyone have a great day!

Congrats K9 - way to go!
G - gearing up for the 9th?? We will all be waiting in anticipation for an update - will it be spinach line again, or looking for another green vegetable???
I am feeling better today at last, that was a long week - just have to get rid of the cough now, but fever seemed to break last night.
My oldest turns 14 on the 9th - not really sure how that crept up - it is the girls weekend with their dad, but he has "plans" Sat night, so I get to have them - and I get to see my new 14yo for breakfast on her birthday! So will enjoy a sober, celebratory weekend - the best kind (have to keep enforcing that as silly brain is already telling me this is a celebration - and the only way I know to celebrate is with AL - will be trying to rewire:H)
TGIF all - and welcome to all the new "old drunks" - happy green dot days all...“The only courage you will ever need is the courage to live the life you want"

I think G-Man is going to lead with the Brocolli pick up line this time. Between that, his new thong that I made for him (with tassels!) and his wax job, he will be positively irresistable! Go G-ster!
SL - My daughter turns 15 tomorrow! I can't figure it out because I am only 24...but I guess it's one of those great mysteries that goes beyond my comprehension. LOL Enjoy your girls and your sober weekend. Have the three of you rented any good movies lately? I can't even remember the last movie we rented!
Here's to a green dot weekend, or stickers if you prefer!
Keep it green, people!:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Hi Niner, Lass, and all to follow,
Congratulations on 90 days and beyond Pixie! Good to see you.
Hi Twitch! Welcome, and glad you are back and want to stop the madness. It all starts with a decision, and a single step.
Great to see you here Yop, and a warm welcome to you. Jump in and read, read, read friend. You can be, and do ANYTHING. Read the stories around here and you will believe and know that anything is possible, and that you can take your life back and be happy.
Gearing up for the 9th indeed Lassie. Glad you're feeling better. Enjoy your weekend with your daughter. We don't need booze to enjoy or enhance any situation, especially with loved ones. What a myth and a big lie that is. Happy birthday to her!
Niner, i'm very well thanks. I have the pleasure of a long weekend (not back at work till tuesday). Happy birthday to your daughter! Rough schedule as follows....
- Began day as always with mindfulness/meditation (appx 20 mins).
- Look for a bayside pad.
- Run.
- rehearsal with one of the bands i'm in.
- Home to work on my own music and chill.
Sunday 9th.
- Meditation
- Run.
- Chill, lunch.
- Afternoon gig at 4.00 p.m. where Spinach lady may or may not appear.
I'll be keeping it green of course, and note that the gig/pub menu includes broccolli. Will she offer me the greens from her plate? This is my question, and if she does, should i interpret this as.....she's interested?
Wishing everyone a safe, sober, happy and magical weekend. Yo!

Niner - nope, no movies for a while - we do tend to do that more in winter for sure. I will be looking for good ones when the weather turns. When i was feeling "poorly" as they say in the UK, i did watch "my rednecy vacation" and i did laugh, probably because it reminded me of my ex - thou Bill Murray realised what actually mattered where my ex hubby hasn't got there yet - it was funny!
Happy 15th to your precious girl - I do recall that they shared a birthday weekend - I will think of you and that will help my resolve:l
G - question will be, do you wait for her to offer, or order her the broccoli with two forks to share I am thinking of keeping mum about the waxing and thong at this stage, but then I have been known to be somewhat boring, so it may not be good advice! Have a great weekend, it looks just fine!

G - I say you send her a plate of brocolli "with your compliments"...that'll grab her attention. Then you can wander over and tell her you couldn't help but notice how it brings out the color of her eyes.....awww, how sweet!
My weekend is nice and boring too...although we do have a costume party to go to tomorrow night. I'm dressing up as spinach and my daughter is going as cornbread. j/k
Happy Friday/Saturday to you all.....KEEP IT GREEN! :cactus::heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

An older drunk back on day one. Who's with me?
Hiya all
It's the weekend and I will be doing some revising today for a test coming up tonight... Yes I'm off to the first social event since I've stopped drinking... It's at a stunning beach resort and I'll be watching the sunset with a lemon, lime and bitters in hand, or 2 even!!
This gig is a... Buy one drink get one free. In the past, I loved these types of thing.. always greedy with a constant full glass and two in my hand or on the table lined up (classy)... I wonder how many lemon and limes I'll have.??
I'm having a accupressure/massage so I'll be relaxed, I'm taking my son and I'll drive instead of walking.. a few of me stategies for tonight
Have a great day all

Have a lovely time patrice. When I quit the last time I used to enjoy going out and being sober then 'drunk watching'. When you get there everyone is looking good and all so polite. Then as the evening develops the effects of drinking can be very amusing to watch.
I think I am a bit odd in that respect. Most people on here seem to struggle at social events involving alcohol, but I find them extremely entertaining.
Is there something wrong with me, or are there others here who enjoy 'drunk watch' ...... The drinking version of 'crime watch'. LOL. :H

Kuya, I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand sometimes I feel like you - and it can be very gratifying - but I still suffer a bit from the feeling I'm missing out at times (IKNOWIKNOW), all those things FF said, which can make it challenging. And then other times drunk people can just be bloody annoying when you're sober! It's around when they start telling the same stories over and over that I have to leave.
Yoppari, WELCOME, and everything K9 said? it's never too late to find the right tools to finally leave the alcohol misery behind for good. Have you found the https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html yet? The Newbies Nest is another great place to post and get support if you're just starting out. :l
G, I love K9s broccoli approach. I think that would be just adorable given you ate the lady's spinach last time. I want an update too!
Again, I absolutely loved your earlier post Kuya, and it's a great attitude to quitting. I also really related to all FreeFly said and it's stuff I still need to work on. I'm trying to focus on gratitude but I must admit that at times those 'glamorous' associations with Al still get to me - and I have to actively remind myself of the NOT so glamorous side of addiction, which we all know - and also the feeling that I'm being 'boring' or 'missing out'. These are two of my main stumbling blocks that still require very conscious thought to combat. I agree with G in that I've been trying to see it as this 'leap of faith' that if I can keep going I will see more and more clearly the benefits of being AF and hopefully therefore miss the perceived - dubious - benefits of drinking less and less.
It's hard in a society that constantly rams down our throat how fabulous it is though. Just recently I had lunch with a friend who was viciously hungover. Her and another friend were sharing a bottle of wine. As I poured sparkling mineral water into my wineglass the hungover friend made a snarky comment about 'gee, live it up Lilly'. Later I thought, how mad is that? She's the one feeling sick, awful, having to run to the chemist for painkillers, probably blew a shitload of money last night, not to mention the poisoning effects and idiotic behaviour and poor choices, but I'm the one who's being 'boring' (she also said I'd been 'boring' lately - meaning the not drinking) and missing out?? Mental. Thankfully most of my friends are FAR more supportive than this.
I am 10 weeks AF tomorrow!!! This feels amazing for the girl who struggled so hard to get to just 30 days. I need to actively remind myself of all the benefits I am reaping and not let that dreaded foe complacency creep in. It's all about the gratitude people.
Happy magical AF weekend to you all, as G would say...
Lilly xx

Hi Patrice.
Here, lemon lime and bitters contains a small percentage of alcohol. Not sure if you knew that, or if that would worry you. Wishing you a great night.
Take care y'all.

I am like you Kuya, I don't have a problem being out and sober, it's liberating actually. I
t's funny, we were out last week and not everyone knows I have stopped drinking and assume what's in my glass is alcohol, well as we were leaving ppl asked how we were getting home and I said I'm driving and I was asked are you ok to drive? It was awesome to say, ya, I haven't been drinking alcohol and the looks were of confusion as I was having a blast and wild as ever LOL

An older drunk back on day one. Who's with me?
Hi guys,
I've been reading a lot in here just not posting- a lot to learn and relate to- I think this is my favorite thread. Not really caught up with what's going on with G-with the spinach lady and now broccoli -will have to go back and research that when I have the time.
K-9 - Doesn't it feel CLEAN to be smoke free now? Good for you! Keep up the good work! Short story long- I once-eons ago sat next to a man on a bus going into NYC- and this guy 's breath was like smelling an ash tray-I think that's what keeps that disgusting habit from forming again.
I quit drinking for a week then started up again- the g and t's in the evening-mostly because I get bored. Took my daughter to a volleyball practice from 7-8:30 last night got home at 9:30 and went to bed. So STARTING OVER yet for the millionth time! Wish me luck. I had the worst intestinal pains at work yesterday so not sure if it was bad greek yogurt I had for breakfast or the alcohol the night before- or something else.
Congratulations Lily on 10 weeks free!
Hello to everyone else-Patrice, Scottish Lass , Twitch-I remember you, Yoppari and KuyaIt's always YOUR choice!

Hi all - the Mac has been acting up so I am on the iPad - wanted to say hey - haven't forgotten you - but due to sys issues - kept losing my posts....:-(That popping sound you hear is me attempting to remove my head from my arse. It's been there for years so this may take a while.
Admitting I need healing. And I am not big enough to do this alone.
