An older drunk back on day one. Who's with me?
Hiya FF, Techie and all to come,
I'm the same FF. Like just about ALL of us, it's all or nothing with booze for me. So, what do i do about this realisation? Well, i've tried to control my intake many times, and the result is the same. I don't want to stop after 2 or 3 or when i might have a 'nice buzz'. And it is a nice buzz, BUT..... Because i do not want to, and ultimately cannot exercise self control after a couple of drinks, or often the first one, drinking leads me far beyond the 'nice buzz' and into self destruction and self abuse. Then, i feel crap the next day, along with the accompanying anxiety, regret, depression, negative self talk, etc, etc, you know how it goes. It then always becomes a cycle for me whether 'moderating' or drinking daily, my mind is full of drinking thoughts, plans, can i, can't i, how?, when? and my body is full of booze. All a total waste of my time, and a destructive, hopeless, hapless, and negative place to be.
The alternative is right there, handed to us on a platter, right in front of us to sample. Stop drinking = feeling fucking great. AND....it's free. The drinking lifestyle is a lie, a myth, and we don't need it in our lives. It creates total, consuming, all encompassing negativity for people like us. We don't need to worry though, because it is within our power, every single one of us, to leave booze behind, and reclaim our lives.
Go for it, i say.

Well said G, and I must say, looking good in your profile pic.
I wasn't really being glib in my comment on your quote about bettering yourself (up above). I do believe those things are necessary to become a positive and whole human being. I am a work in progress.
Um, yes I was being glib, I mean, but not seriously.

Hi Molly!
Hi LG!
Stick with it. I hope i remain a work in progress for the rest of my days. There is always so much to experience, to learn, to enjoy i reckon. Daily personal growth is a pretty wild journey for me, and an essential one if i am to live a full and happy sober life.

Felt the need to bump the thread in case Mr. G had something to say today. That popping sound you hear is me attempting to remove my head from my arse. It's been there for years so this may take a while.
Admitting I need healing. And I am not big enough to do this alone.

Hi Prairie and Freefly,
All good here. Quietly achieving, so not shooting my mouth off too much at present!
How are you both going?
FF, my current pic is of a great Australian aboriginal legend Mr. Jimmy Little. You can look him up on you tube. Beautiful voice, and a real gentleman who worked actively with his people in areas of education and self empowerment. We are fortunate to have known him, and to have shared in his music. He leaves an inspiring and real ongoing legacy. 'Uncle' Jimmy passed away a couple of weeks ago age 75.
Off into the day here. Yeehaw! Blue skys and 25c.
Take care y'all, and think positive.

Hi FF.
Good stuff. I'm a runner too. Running, or any sort of regular exercise is a great free mood lifter, and an essential part of many folks taking their lives back.
