    Prairie Fairy and All,

I am in too. Day 12 for me. Let's all make 30 this time; we can do it TOGETHER!

Having a bit of a rough go tonight - I've had the Glutamine and the Amino's which up til now have done a great job at cutting the cravings. But the booze brain is just hammering on me...it doesn't want me to make Day 6 - for the first time in oh, nearly 18 years. It's like a wall...and the booze brain does NOT want me to cross it.

So I'm making this Traditional Medicinal's Organic Nighty Night tea again...for whatever reason - I have no idea why - it has a similar "trick the brain into relaxing" response that alcohol did. Maybe it's the combo of the passionflower and chamomile in synergy - I don't know. I bought by accident when I was sick - and oddly enough - it has a similar chill factor as the first few sips of wine.
That popping sound you hear is me attempting to remove my head from my arse. It's been there for years so this may take a while.
Admitting I need healing. And I am not big enough to do this alone.

You can get through this Prairie. Hang on and just think about how good you will feel tomorrow morning. You are strong and determined to do this and break the cycle. :l

Had a lovely 20 days AF and messed it up, but enough of that - back to day 1 today and feeling good. Looking to all that is positive and uplifting, including all of you!!!

C'mon Prairie. Break through it, give yourself a push, and kick some ass.

I've had enough of that crazy herbal tea to float the Titanic - and between it, the Glutamine and the Aminos's - (plus eating so the booze brain couldn't trick my stomach into wanting the sugar - thank you Jason Vale) - I made it through the cravings.

This is the first night I got the headaches from hell others have referenced - and it was so tempting to go get a shot to make it go away even though wine is my sin of choice - one glass always leads to much - so controlled usage goes to liquor. But I passed.

Thanks all of you for being here - so glad so many of you agreed to take this journey together. I figure if we make mistakes, we are here to pick each other up, dust each other off, and keep going.

Stringing more AF days together is better than none. Letting our bodies heal as best we can is better than nothing. And getting to where we each find our equilibrium right for us - is the important thing.

So - glad you are here. :-). I know I am glad I am here. I want to lift the fog.

                  Hiya all,

Seems I'm in a different time zone then everyone else, but thats fine.. i'll check in later tonight.

Its nearly the end of day 1 for me ( at the 11th hour I had wine with some friends last night). I had a weeks holiday last week and counted that in that week I had 4 AF days but not consecutively...

I'm trying to do 30 days consecutively and see what happens.

I agree that some AF days are better than none. I think my AF days are helping today to say no.
I've had a busy work day... eaten fruit, yoghurt, salad and fish and taken all my supps and no AL

Hope you all have/ are having/had a great day

                  Take Care
                  Patrice

My first thought was - "what a great idea!" then I thought - "there's yet another example of PF's determination...I think she's going to make it..." then as I kept reading I teared up....it hits so close to home...and I do feel like all of you are my friends...we all understand each other so well.

So, while I'm just slightly past 30 days I'd love to ride along if it's ok. And if so, then I call shotgun!

                            Hi there everyone,
I would like to join in on the journey. I'm sick of waking up feeling like crap and being depressed. I've been lurking around this website for a several years now. I've had a couple of stints AF one time for 30 days and just last April for 47 days. It doesn't take long to fall right back into the bottle. I've tried to do this alone but I'm finally realizing I need help and support from others and there's no shame in that! I hope to get to know you all. Ishy

                              I'd like to come along.

I have been trying to be better for years. The most I've ever done was a week or so. I can't stand myself. I'm going for day 1. Do you guys have any thoughts about how to handle Thanksgiving? My whole family is coming, and they are all party animals. I think my brother and I are the only flat out drunks, though. I'm pretty down.:upset:

Welcome crocus and ishybit. We are all here for you and in on this together. I am hosting Thanksgiving too at my house and my family drinks like fish. I am preparing myself with non-al drinks for myself. Something that I don't usually drink so that it will feel special. Plus I am going to put it in a really nice glass so it feels special too. I am kinda looking forward to it and to see how it will feel being af on a holiday. I have to get up really early to put the turkey in and I know I will feel good getting out of bed and not being hungover and having energy to get the dinner on the table. Plus I won't be plastered once it is on the table and can actually carry on a coherent conversation and play with my nieces and nephews. I know I can do this. What will actually be funny is seeing everyone's faces when they notice I am not drinking. Ha!
