    LOL - I take 6 at a time when the cravings are kicking my tail. That's a butt load I know - but I checked at the various AL recovery centers and you can safely dose 12 MG - 15 MG a day for long periods. And they will dose you that high for cravings...

    6 of those funky blue Gluta-Lyns is 4.5 mgs at a time. On a *bad* day - I have to do it 3 times so I'm in the zone used by the Recovery Centers. Usually only 2 times. But 6 of those blue Gluta-Lyns? SMOTHER a craving - particularly if you toss your two Kudzu on top. Zap. Bye craving. Smothered right down to barely a whisper of the Rat Brain where you can't hear it....

      Oh - Good trick for Friday/Saturdays and Sundays - which were BIG drinking days for me.

      I take the first L-Glut dose by 2 pm latest each of those days. The next between 4- 6. The next between 8-9. That way I've wiped across the entire spectrum of drinking hours on a weekend...Trust me - Glutamine isn't going to do anything to you like AL. On weekends - with the extra Glut/Kudzu/Magnesium on board - I poop more. Big deal. I'm thinner. Big Woop.

        Thanks PF. I have L-Glutemine 1000, should I pop those tonight? I ordered the ones that you mentioned this morning, they won't be here until next week. I just don't want to screw up this weekend. Heck, I'll just pop everything I have lol If I get any thinner, I'll vanish.

          If you have the L-Glut 1,000's - you can take 4 at time - no biggie. Take them about an hour before your normal witching hour and then again when you feel a craving coming on.

            PF, Thank you, you've been a big help to me. I was never one to go out on Friday night, I'm usually too tired after working. After last weekend, I'm just trying to cover everything this weekend.

              If you don't have the Kudzu at home - I think the Planetary Formulations version they sell at Vitamin Shop includes a couple other Chinese herbs also "known for anti-craving" - whatever - it works better than Kudzu alone in my opinion. So- if you are going out and are nervous about how you will do - hit the vitamin shop and grab a bottle of that - it's the same price as the Kudzu here - but you'll have it in your hot little hands this weekend...

                And no worries - your question prompted me to remember - I hadn't taken my Friday afternoon early dose yet - and off I went - and I'm already feeling the tension dropping. So that's a good thing. With the AB I can't drink - it doesn't mean I don't totally freak out.

                      Thank you so much for researching and posting this information. It can get very overwhelming and this allows me to read it in digestable bites Ive been lookig thru your past threads as well. GABA is the Amino I am currently trying to get a handle on. Tons of Infor out there...

                          Hi Prairie Fairy,

                          Thank you for this excellent thread. I am nominally familiar with many of these, and love to see the reinforcement.

                          My morning routine includes a protein/vitamin smoothie (Isagenix until I've used it up - too expensive) with Activia yogurt (for the probiotic), 4000 mg Vit D - another deficiency for many of us, and the one vitamin prescribed by my Doctor, and a few supps that are more about stress relief and fighting belly fat, so I'll leave those for another time/thread.

                          My vitamins have been a little hit or miss, especially on the B side so I need to add a good multivitamin with B complex, esp. for the days I don't do my smoothie.

                          I hadn't noticed immediate relief from L-Glut when I took it when I was first detoxing, but again, thanks to your info, I am going to give it another try, now more for sugar cravings than alcohol, but the same thing, really. I still have some of that around but will look into your hyper-fast recommendation as well.

                          Once or twice during the day, I take 200-300 mg of L-Theanine (suntheanine brand) and I feel an almost immediate calming and focusing, without any negative side affects and no energy depletion. I'm totally hooked!

                          Before bed, I've been taking magnesium (Source Naturals brand) but was about to give up because of the abdominal distress and horrible poops. But knowing it is SO good for you I'm giving it another try and am ordering the Natural Calm Magnesium powder.

                          Other ingredients in my sleep "cocktail" include: NightRest with Melatonin, again by Source Naturals, and L-Tryptophan (which I will also take during the day if I want a little extra chill).

                          I love reading and researching this stuff as well, and I do believe it works. Plus I'm committed to reversing the damage done to my brain, liver, muscles, etc., as much as I am to repairing the other things/relationships I've f**ked up through my drinking.

                            Anxiety Attacks? Skip the Benzo's - give this a try first

                            Ok - I found one GABA supp that isn't GIVING me an allergic reaction - maybe it's because of how it's buffered - or maybe the GABA I had - used some sort of base that was the problem.

                            I tried this with GREAT hesitation and a bottle of benadryl at hand but I've been using cautiously now for 2 weeks - no adverse reactions.

                            I got this blend - because it's used by a number of MD's - and sold under their name - for twice what it's being sold at under the regular brand available at Health Food Stores and online.

                            Brand is Source Naturals - Name is Theanine Serene.

                            Key ingredients are several mentioned in the giant thread above - all in one synergistic pill - so instead of paying a bazillion dollars and cooking it up yourself - you have two pills to take.

                            It says to take them once a day - but when things are totally out of hand - I've been able to take two in the middle of a panic attack and two more again at bed time with no ill effects.

                            Ingredients include: Magnesium, GABA, Taurine, L-Theanine, Relora (which is from Magnolia and Phelleodendron barks respectively) and Holy Basil Leaf extract.

                            Works like a champ - I'm am chilling about 30 minutes in - the pills are big - and HARD - so you need quite a bit of fluid to dissolve these suckers. But - caught in an anxiety attack - these are a life saver - two pills - not thinking - just sit and do deep breathing until these start kicking in and soothing out your nervous system.
