Help finding the medications

Hi ---Im new to the program and extremely motivated---I am very uncomfortable talking to my family doctor about my alcohol use. I was going to try the progam with the vitamins and CDs but after reading the book it seems the topimax is a big part of the program---Does anyone have any suggestions--I live on Long Island NY-----Maybe someone out there has a Dr they can recommend

The day I talked to my doctor was one of the greatest days of my life. I had the Lancet article, which you can get on this site, and the Newsweek article, which you can also get on this site, and he had never heard of using topamax for alcohol cravings, but he was willing to try. If you feel uncomfortable with your dr., find another one. Go to an osteopath. They seem to know more about us. The program--at least for me--made more sense when I took the meds and the supps, did the hypno, and took up exercise. But you do need to see a dr. When you look at professional in the face and say you have a problem with alcohol, it has a way of making the whole thing official and giving you a feeling of empowerment and escape from denial. Do it. Long Island has every kind of dr. in the entire universe, right?

Sophia is right, just do it. If your Dr. turns out to be a judgemental jerk, you can always find another one. I did not use the meds when I started out in July, but will consider them this time if I run into problems.

Thanks Lori--Im having a tough time just navigating in this site---I never go on chat lines on the computer--I got your reply but had to go to all your postings to find it--Im sure there is an easier way---I thought I was pretty computer literate--but online chatting is new to me

Thanks for the advice--I'm going to start without the meds and see what happens---I am a firm believer in vitamins and Im skeptical about the hypnosis but willing to try---thanks again

High quality supplements for those on a budget!

Hi to all and just for whatever it is worth, I ordered the supplements online today from Swansonvitamins.com and the entire cost for everything plus the GABA was $65.00. I have used their products in the past and found them to be of very high quality....many of the supps were also buy one get one free......I know the product sold here are of very high quality too, but for myself the priority on this sight was the cds, so for the supplements to be that much less expensive to me was a very helpful thing for my budget.......Can't wait for it all to arrive! love, MY......or Mayo to some:h
