NEW YEAR'S EVE AF THREAD FOR NEWBIES
Great idea Unwasted
Please believe me any Newbies out there that although the beginning is a scary place its only because we are scared of the unknown.
We stay in abusive relationships because we dont know what else to do, thats how it is with AL. The evil familiarity can keep us bound in chains even when we are at our most miserable. Once we break that chain and start to take a few wobbly steps on our own the feeling of freedom is wonderful.
Whats even more wonderful is the people here to help you along on these wobbly steps until you are strong enough to stand on your own. Lets say goodbye to our fears in 2012 and be bold enough to stand together against this wicked addiction.
If you have stubbled onto this site :welcome: its a Godsend. Know you are not alone and there is always someone here to help.

NEW YEAR'S EVE AF THREAD FOR NEWBIES
Chillgirl,
Thanks for stopping by with some words of wisdom from someone who is coming up on two years sober! Very admirable and something I aspire to achieve! It's very helpful for those of us just starting out to hear about the upside to an AF life!

Thanks for starting this thread, Unwasted. Today is an extra hard day to stay AF, but I'm committed to doing it. I have spent most of 2011 trying to shake free from this addiction. I've made great strides, and drink much less overall, but can't seem yet to quit completely like I want to. So, if I don't drink today, or after today, I will have officially Kicked the Drink in 2011! That's a lot of incentive to help me through the day.
Chill, I think a lot of us will be looking at your quit date today with a lot of admiration for what you've achieved. Congratulations to you. I hope there will be a small army of us following in your footsteps.~ The chief cause of failure is trading what you want most for what you want now ~

NEW YEAR'S EVE AF THREAD FOR NEWBIES
Brilliant idea, Unwasted.
Not only is it New Year's Day tomorrow and it's SHOUT OUT SUNDAY. Just think how great we'll all feel tomorrow morning shouting it loud and shouting it proud that we've woken up with out a hangover.
And of course it'll be party time for Chill's 2nd AF anniversary.

WOW, such sage wisdom in a post, and how true.
Its just another 24 hours to get through without letting the beast convince our AL brain that it needs a fix. Nothing much worse than waking up in the am, only to have let yourself down, for the small amount of satisfaction(if any) of putting poison in our bodies

Thanks Unwasted for starting a wonderful thread. I am soooo looking forward to approaching 2012 sober and I hope to remain AF for all of 2012 and I can't wait to get it started. Let's do this thing! Together we are so much stronger than if we are alone. I am so excited for everyone. What are your goals for 2012? Mine is to be at peace with my mind and myself once and for all. Live simple and grow good vegetables.
