Hi All!
I'd like to jump on into this thread too! This was my first sober New Years Eve in decades. I've never stopped BEFORE New Years Eve because...well, why would I do that? This time I decided "enough" and figured I go into the new year with a few sober days already racked up. My last and hopefully final slip was on Dec 26th. I have no excuse other than I am an alcoholic. Thankfully I only drank for 2 days and got right back to business. I finished out the year 2011 with 257 days, although they are not all consecutive. I plan to do MUCH better in 2012, and have them all be in a row!
So I spent the majority of the last 3 days reading this incredibly moving book. I should probably post this in the "What We're Reading" thread too. The title is "A Piece of Cake" by Cupcake Brown. Oh my God this woman lead a crazy life!! I've read my fair share of memoirs, but this one is by FAR my favorite. I finished it a couple of days ago and can't stop thinking about it. I think what I really loved was that she was so detailed about everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. And when she finally went into recovery, there were so many "pointers" that I felt like I was there with her learning as she went. All I can say is that if you like to read and have time for an almost 500 page book...please pick this up. You will not be able to put it down. My respect for this woman is off the charts!
Anyway, happy 2012 everyone...let's make it a sober one!!!
