Howdy, Jammers. Really busy week here, but just wanted to say that I am on Day 9 and feelin' fine!:thumbs: Turned down another invite to a wine tasting on Fri night. Rather be home AF with the kids and clear headed Saturday morning.

        Hello All!

Vini and Jen - we're neck and neck here so let's keep it up!

Jenn - you are wise to think ahead to your triggers and how to avoid them. I need to work on that one myself. Right now I don't forsee any triggers this weekend other than the fact it's a weekend - that alone is a test!

Vini - I have to say I think my worst time is right after work as well - wine was always my "wind down" from a stressful day. Luckily for me my DH never joined me for that so he's not tempting me. He probably looked at me the way Jenny was looking at her husband and thinking "why is she so spaced out??" LOL

Anyway, I'm committed to not drinking and intend to stay that way.

        Have a great day all!

Oh boy, having a tough day today. Ended up staying home because of bad weather and then the power went out for over 5 hours and all I could think about was how much I wanted a drink. No one was home, nothing to do, no one would know. Yikes! I have been eating nonstop, cookies, nuts, pizza - but no AL. Funny how you think you are past the cravings and then they show up and bite you in the rear. I think I am over the crisis, maybe a hot bath, Grey's Anatomy and looking forward to day 13.

Good for you Vini. You'll have to do an extra shred session but you did not drink. Yay!
Pinecone~congrats on 60 big ones!! I've been meaning to ask is it a regular pinecone or does it have special meaning?
All good here--no drink/no smoke. Guess that makes it 13 days.

                    Hey Jan Jammers!

I am so impressed with all the positive energy around here. Everyone is doing fan-flippin-tastic!

Irie and Belle- congrats on day 9!! 1 more day and you both are in double digits!

Vini-That's awesome that you didn't give in to the temptation. Whatever you can do to overcome to craving is key, even if it's eating like you're going into hibernation. Now that you have more energy from not drinking, you may even be able to do a double shred one day! You're doing great!

Pinecone- 60 days!!! woo woo! That is so amazing! Congrats!

RC- It must be day 14 for you now (if my time zones are right). Awesome job! And you are unbelievable for going al free and smoke free! You are kicking some serious A**!

Jenny- thanks for the update on everyone progress. What would we do without you? How you feeling?

UW- I hope all is well...well as well as can be expected. You're in my thoughts everyday. Hope you are doing ok.

Everyone is doing so well! I love it! Hubby, his friend and I are going out for dinner tonight., which would usually mean drinks. No drinks for us though cause hubby is sick, I'm not drinking and the friend wont drink alone. Easy Peasy! Have a great day all!

Hey Jammers - (posted this also on the Newbie's thread)...........

Just a quick check in for me today. My dad died yesterday afternoon, and I actually witnessed his last breath. I have to tell you, that's a very strange experience, but one I'm glad I was privileged to have. He seemed comfortable and it really was better that he passed - he was 90.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your support and comfort - it meant a lot to me.

Tomorrow marks my 60th day sober, and the handling of my first big life issue without the crutch of alcohol. I'm finally understanding on a deep level that there is absolutely nothing that alcohol makes better - the price is always much greater than the perceived good we get from drinking.

Hello All! Unwasted :l:l I feel so much for what you're going through. I lost my Dad in early November and unfortunately I wasn't with him. But it really puts so many things in perspective and opened my eyes in so many ways.

I feel that I'm entering a new frame of mind on this whole journey. I'm still in early days unfortuantely so I know I've got months of cravings coming at me from nowhere but I feel calm and resolved this time that I know I'm going to live my life as a non-drinker. And I'm really happy about that!

Everyone is so upbeat and wonderful on this thread - it's great to hear all the positive posts and see how well we are all doing! :h

RC - No drinkie/no smokie for 13 days??? WOW. You are awesome...keep it up!

I didn't do so well on my quitting smoking attempt on Tuesday. In fact I only lasted 7 hours. ARGH. Right now I'm tracking how many cigs I actually smoke in a day (I think it varies) so that I can cut back before my next attempt to quit. I hate the fact that cigs have become my hardest addiction to quit...since I only started smoking when I was drinking. Oy, damn alcohol...the cause of SO many problems!

Anywhoo, it's Friday, I am off work at 12 and don't have to come back until Tuesday...yippee! Looking forward to a relaxing weekend of reading and watching some movies I rented from the Library. My daughter is getting her hair "highlighted" tomorrow, so I'll be dropping her off as I don't really view sitting in the salon for 3 hours as fun! She cajoled her dad into paying for the highlights, she told him that I wanted to just do them at home, so I guess he realized that probably wasn't the best idea ever (since I have no idea what I'm doing...LOL).

Everyone sounds good here...we're kickin' some serious AL ass these days! Lets stay strong and show this Beast who's the BOSS!
