After I posted I was thinking we will need a new thread for next month and a name for that thread. Maybe since this is an election year we should have nominations and a vote ~~~

Just sending you all big hugs and love. I really want this for you guys - so strange how one can feel such a connection to people we've never met. Really pulling for everyone! :lilheart:
Thank you, Unwasted! I agree, we really are all so connected in a very special way. I've often wondered if we all found ourselves in the same room and didn't know "who" we were, would we be naturally drawn to each other? Probably not, I guess, but I like to think so.

I hope everyone is off to a great start this week. Let's just sail through it, shall we?

The master then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake nearby. Once the apprentice swirled his handful of salt in the water, the old man said, ?Now drink from the lake.? As the water dripped down the young man?s chin, the master asked, ?How does it taste?? ?Fresh,? remarked the apprentice. ?Do you taste the salt?? asked the master. ?No,? said the young man.

At this, the master took the young man?s hands, offering, ?The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains exactly the same. Wow I love this...today I will be a lake :l

Hello Jammers. I've been out of the loop.

Yesterday I got even more done than I did on Saturday - starting with my 30-day shred video and then doing a power walk. (Thanks K9!) I think I felt like if I stayed super busy I'd distract myself from thoughts of AL. Anyway, they were still there but I was super busy so I avoided the AL. However by evening I was exhausted - but the house was clean and FINALLY all the christmas stuff packed away in the Garage. I got in bed early and fell asleep by 9. Honestly, it was a great day because I had no hangover and was full of energy all day. Why can't they all be like that?! Oh that's right - they can!

UW - CONGRATULATIONS on 70 days!!! That's awesome! :goodjob:
Jenny - I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles - hang in there and just remember that AL only adds to the problem load. Thanks for updating our dates!
Red - I loved your quote. That is so true - something to think about and mull over.
CG - you are doing great!! You have survived your first major challenge AF!! Awesome!
Irie and Freefly - love the avatars. It is so funny they are so similar!
Have a fantastic evening all. :l

JAMMIN JANUARY KICKOFF FOR A SOBER 2012 - NEWBIE SUPPORT THREAD

              Hiya Jammers!

So many different things going on in the Jam nest recently. I'm still staying strong during my holiday. Yesterday was a great day. Went round to all hubby's friends and relatives to wish them a happy new year. Had a nice dinner with MIL's closest friend and her family. Everyone drank but me and a little 13 year old. We drank juice and ate loads of candies :-) Last night we played ma jiang and I won 98 Yuan (almost $20)! We don't play for lots of money. I felt happy with my win though!

Jenny- Sorry to hear about all that is going on. Sometimes it seems like the whole world is crashing down around us. But, believe me, it's not. Slowly, but surely, things will get better for you. Al will not solve any problems for you, but only create more. I'm sending you hugs and energy today. Btw, thanks for updating the list! You're awesome!

UW- Great going on 70 days! You rock! I'm happy that you are feeling better and that you pushed those nasty al thoughts out of your mind!

Red- Thanks for the post. I loved that lesson. We all need to learn how to be lakes!

Irie and Free- Like the new pics! New pics for a new state of mind?

Mylife- Isn't it amazing what we can do when we are al free? Sometimes it seriously feels like we have enough energy to run the world. haha. And waking up hangover free is the best feeling in the world. Second best is seeing all the stuff you can accomplish when not drinking. Good for you!!!

Sorry to everyone who has been struggling recently. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. No one said that it was going to be easy to get there, but YOU CAN GET THERE. Just keep fighting everyday. It does get easier over time.

Day 26 here. It's a beautiful sunny day and have no idea what our plans are for today. I may grab a book and relax for a bit. Hopefully no big dinners tonight, but we shall see. Have a great one all!

JAMMIN JANUARY KICKOFF FOR A SOBER 2012 - NEWBIE SUPPORT THREAD

Just checking in with everyone. Jenny, hope you are hanging in there. Life can be so tough sometimes.
When I am feeling down I think of those who are sick and are thankful when they wake up to see another day.
I am grateful to have made it to day 82. I have been working on getting organized. I have left so many tasks undone due to my drinking. I can't believe some of the things I have let slide.
I have to take it a bit at a time as it can be quite overwhelming.
Hubby has been away on a business trip for the last few days so I am enjoying some quiet time.
It is nice. Tonight I started working on a new vision board. I will put pictures of things I would like to manifest in my life and then spend some time daily to create positive thought around them in hopes of drawing them into my life.
I am now on day 82 and feeling pretty good. I still get thoughts about drinking but I just tell the demons to go away because I don't drink any more.
                Wishing you all well.
                R4L
                Don't worry, be happy!

                  jenny and irie!!

i'm also starting again-- on day 4 after almost 2 months of "controlled" drinking.
i'm shocked at how quickly things can get out of control. and i scared myself this time.
i'm really struggling to stay strong. but it feels good when i wake up sober.

                  hang in there everyone1!!

hi running for life--82 days is a great amount of time.

i love the idea of a vision board. -- may just steal that one, if you don't mind.
i'm using lots of ideas i read in these posts. i hope that i slowly begin to create some ideas of my own.

Jenni - hope things turn around for you soon! 15 year old girls can be trying but it does get better

UW - I absolutely love buying kitchen things too! Love to cook and now finding more time to do it as cleaning up isn't as much of a hassle when you are doing it AF with a clear head! They have a recipe thread here - not sure if you've checked it out. I'd rather shop for kitchen gadgets then clothes

Lifechange - good for you! There was no "controlled" drinking for me - couldn't stop once I started so it's all or nothing. 4 days is great!

Running4life - 82 days! AWESOME! You are dong great!

CG - looks like you are handling the new year holiday fantastically (just made that word up)
That can't be easy to do when everyone else is drinking but you are the winner in the end (and especially the next morning if you know what I mean)

Mylife - sounds like you had a busy but productive day. A good nights sleep is so nice for a change - huh?

Irie and hypernova - hope you both are off to a great day - positive thoughts are definitely running rampant in this group.

                      Have a great day everyone!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Good morning! I'm happy to wake up to day 4 AF. Yesterday was a bear at work, so I'm thinking if I got through last night, I can get through anything without drinking.

I also like your vision board idea, Running. I spend so much time thinking about what I don't want, or can't have (alcohol, too much food as I seem to have been on a diet for most of my life). I like shifting to a more positive way of thinking in terms of attracting what I want, in this case a healthy mind and body. Thanks for the idea.

I hope everyone has a great day today. I will be back tonight to check in.

                            Hi Jammers,

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm logging in day 5 so I'm feeling good. It was kinda good to get that weekend out of the way while in early days - that seems to work for me.

Anyway, Running - Congratulations on day 82!! I'm impressed. Can you share what worked for you? I'm always looking for inspiration.

Jenny - that's awesome - our Sunday updates! Glad to hear you're feeling good!

Yes, we are a busy bunch around here. I'm starting back to taking Spanish classes tomorrow night. I live in Florida, I'm married to a native Spanish speaker, I should just be good at that language, right??? Anyway, it would be very helpful for me in the long run as I can see my hubby and I spending part of our retirement somewhere Spanish speaking. - Okay that's still maybe 15 years away, but I can dream!

Hope everyone is doing great and has a wonderful AF Tuesday!
