    Hello everyone

Here I am again, day one again, groundhog day but hey at least i am no quitter on quitting :H I have decided to completely throw myself into getting my henna business off the ground, I have had two commissions in the last week one for a canvas and one for candles which I have now completed and just had another two canvasses ordered and two more candles, I can't actually believe I can make a piece of art someone wants! Anyway wish me luck, I NEED to stay AF to get this to work!

Yer kinda killin two birds with one stone there......you'll be amazed at what "lack of empty calories" will do for a body's physique.

I tried to lose weight for years, no luck, I gave up AL and Ill be daymed if I didnt drop some weight, and fairly quickly(few weeks) without doing any workouts.

When you see the weight dropping off your body, and the bathroom scale heading south, you will be even more motivated to stave off the poison

        Hello everyone

thanks Nelz, I know when I quit AL whilst pregnant the weight just fell off, in the first 3 months I lost a stone instead of gaining any! I have decided not to try for the weight loss diet-wise at the moment, just concentrate on eating healthily to promote wellbeing but to treat myself andhave something yummy to eat instead of drinking if I feel like it, I think to quit everything all at once is too much for my heart and soul to bear and I know getting rid of the AL is far more important to me than being super skinny at the moment

                    Hello everyone

                    Mauri,

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents worth in - Sleep was one of the biggest issues for me when I quit AL. Started taking benadryl at night but didn't want to have to do that every night. I found melatonin in 10mg tablets that are time-released. A little more pricey than the lower dosage but I have to say it really works - it says to take it 20 minutes before going to bed and I definitely start feeling drowsy after the 20 minutes.

This stuff probably works differently for different people.

Sounds like you are doing great - let me know how you make out.

p.s. I found the melatonin in our local walmart store but you can most likely find it in any drug store.

                        Hello everyone

                        Hi Mauri -
I take Melatonin every night, although I'm not sure how long you're "supposed" to take it. I bought 2 bottles, 3mg and 5mg so that I can mix and match to get the MG's that I need. I am up to 13mgs and I'm not sure if that's too much! Like most things, your body gets used to it, so you have to keep "upping" the amount. I need to research that! When I first started taking it, 2mgs would knock me out!

Jolie - Do you have any info on Melatonin, like how much is "too" much or how long you should take it? When I saw the 10mgs for the first time I couldn't believe someone would take that much...and now here I am, up to 13mgs! And sometimes that doesn't seem to work as well as it "should".

What's really helped me lately is listening to progressive muscle relaxation CDs. I can be asleep within minutes with one of those going (usually, of course nothing works perfectly every time, even with those, sometimes I have to listen to it twice).
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

                          Hello everyone

K9 - I don't have any hard facts on melatonin (but I may start researching it now). I just know I did do a little research on the benadryl and while it looks like it's okay to take on a daily basis, it does kind of "dry" you out and I have dry eyes so that's why I started looking for something else.

So far so good on the 10 mg Melatonin. Hope it keeps working for me because like you, I'm always afraid of taking more than I should.

Question for you - what are these progressivemuscle relaxation CD's? I used to listen to a CD that played soothing music with ocean waves in the background.

                          Thanks

Valerian works well - I like time-released melatonin because otherwise I wake up at 3 am.

I'm not taking either one on the nights I do the sleep Hypnos - those help keep me asleep. However - I do drink herbal tea that has both chamomile and passionflower in it - both of which are sleep aids - before bed.
Thanks for this post Prairie Fairy, it set me off researching light therapy for two hours. Which has left me a little confused but also hopeful that it could help (along with diet and other measures) after I do detox again. Depression is a real biggie for me and the research I have just done does indicate good results from light therapy.
I am having trouble finding out where to get a suitable lamp in Australia.

Good morning all, I wish I could say I woke up feeling refreshed and well after a lovely AF evening but I was awake half the night with DH snoring and DD got me up at 5am again plus my cold is out in full force and I feel like sh*te still at least I don't have to contend with a hangover to go with it all!! Heres to another sober day, Saturday is normally a very boozy evening for me but I am determined to battle through the cravings if//when they come today, wish me strength!
