Hi. I have been staying very positive throughout my 15 days af. But I am not feeling good. Not like I thought I would. I have only had maybe 2 days of no headache. My eyes are still red. I am honestly getting a little discouraged. I want to feel better and it is hard to belive I dont feel much better af 15 days. I am not having a good day at all as a matter of fact... Is this normal??? I am eating good, dtinking plenty of watet, taking vitamins,.L Glutamine..... Insight please....

Hi Shiner,
I have heard from several people that it takes time to feel better. I personally have ups and downs - most of my battle is mental vs. physical however. I do know that it takes up to 90 days to completely get the effects of Alcohol out of your system, and I also know that again and again I have read that it gets better with time. Give it some more time and I know you will feel the positive effects. You can do this - hang in there! :l

Shiner,
It may be a very good idea to get to a doctor and see if there is something else going on? A sinus infection, etc?
I never felt headaches after a few days of AF, but others may have. Everyone is different.
At any rate, keep going AF as drinking now will not make the situation any better.
Good job and sticking it out!

Hi Shiner - yes, you could have something else totally unrelated to drinking, like a bad cold or flu or something like that. Did you drink a lot? It could be still withdrawal if you did really drink a lot....or it could be migraine related.
Are you taking anything for your headaches? I'm so sorry you have to go through this after being so brave in giving up your drinking :h:h
Keep posting so we'll know how you are.Ask yourselves, would you rather be a non drinker with an occasional desire to drink or a drinker with a constant desire to stop doing it?

Everyone reacts different to withdrawing from alcohol shiner, unfortunately some more so than others, As others have said maybe a trip to the docs is in order if symptoms persist .
Found this only post in my files might help ...
Try and live one day at a time, make each day one of preparation for better things ahead.
Don't dwell on the past or the future, Only on the present, bury all fear of the future, All thoughts of unkindness & bitterness, All your dislikes, your resentments, your sense of failure, Your disappointment in others and in yourself, your gloom & despondency, Leave all these things behind and go forward into a new life,The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself, It is not in your environment, It is not in luck or change or the help of others, It is in yourself alone :goodjob:

Shiner - the headaches could be dehydration, make sure you are drinking plenty of healthy fluids. How is your sleep pattern? when I quit I slept badly for a number of weeks and lack of sleep can make you feel really lousy and bring on flu like symptoms. Please hang in there, 15 days is wonderful but remember how long we have been abusing ourselves, be patient and loving towards your body."In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

Hi Shiner,
The headaches could even be that your back is out of place. If you toss and turn at night, you could be throwing it out. I know I do that a lot and wake up with horrible headaches. I know it's frustrating to quit drinking and still wake up feeling crappy, but it will get better. I'm fighting off some sort of sickness right now too (AND my back and neck hurt), but I've been taking ibuprofen all day, and I plan to be in bed early tonight, like I was last night (7:30pm).
Hope you feel better!
K9:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.
